Worse still BoTW is pay to win since having some nice armour and guardian weapons early + mats would be a huge boost.

All of the classic Zelda Tunics (which is like 5 sets I believe), Fierce Deity set, 6 weapons, shield, Wolf Link.
That is some severe content that is being excluded just because you don't have the proper amiibo.

Thank the heavens I can hack the game to add those, I won't give Nintendo money for amiibos...
Never in my life will I condone this kind of bullshit action of hiding content behind physical keys to unlock them in game, we had enough bullshit and lazyness with DLC running around before to add this piece of shit to it.
Just leave the amiibos as figurine collectibles, do not tie them up with game content and it would all be fine.

Good thing the game will be released for 3DS, I will be unlocking all that amiibo shit with hacks, rest assured.

Wow. People of this generation really are whiny bitches. Some people evn wanted Super Mario Run to be 100% free. I'm sure they also would want free games, how would Nintendo dare lock games behing a paywall????!!!!! We already bought a Switch!!!!!!!!!1! :glare:
it is EXTRA ADDITIONAL content, you don't NEED to purchase it to go further in the game.

Pieces of equipment that can (or might) be obtained ingame and some of which can break???
Yea, it definitively qualifies as content...

    Good for you I guess?

Trailer looks pretty sweet, having never played the original it looks like this will be the best version to start with.

Yea that's why the might was in parenthesis in my previous post, but seriously, you're going on about gear, and not something that actually boosts completion rate?? As @Vanth88 pointed out it's only affects people with OCD (who want to finish the game with a true 100% rating, who are the same kind of people that hoard everything they can get their in-game hands on in TES games), I'm referring to actual content that's locked on your cartridge, mind you, and can only be unlocked with physical (real-life) items.

Did you read the rest of my post, or just the bit you quoted?
Quoting out of context (or willfully ignoring my 'justification') isn't cool brah.

Yes I read your whole post, I just didn't want to have more than %50 of my post be a quote.
Plus it seemed like that was the main takeaway from what you said (imo).

How is the Metroid amiibo content "actual content"?

    It's in-game "DLC".
The content is already in the game, the only thing they are selling is you is basically just a key to unlock it.
Proof of this is that you can get the content locked out by the amiibos by hacking the game with cheat codes.
If it were proper DLC, like the Expansion Pass of BotW, you wouldn't be able to spawn the DLC-only items, like the new Korok Mask, etc, without the update.

    Amiibo DLC is another story.
Simple as it is, if Nintendo cared enough to make a digital-only version of the amiibo keys, we wouldn't have this issue.
If they did, I would buy the set I want by just paying a shabby amount of money into it.
But since all of these things are locked behind things which are:
    1. Subject to waves/games.
    2. Subject to stock
    3. Subject to preorders
Your chances of getting said item get diminished by a lot.
Not even taking into consideration scalpers, since those are another side of the coin as well.

And yes, while you can "finish" the game without said content, I am one of those people who likes to get all of the juice as possible from a game (100%).
And guess what? You can't because amiibo shortage is still a thing, and since they are used only once to unlock one thing and that's it, paying 10+ bucks for one is a rip-off.

Nintendo is handling this Amiibo thing in a very shady way, same for the Mini consoles being released.
Sorry but I'm not one to fall for that greedy system, I might as well just get myself an Amiibo spoofer and my days of worrying about those pieces of shit will be over until Nintendo comes up with yet another way to ripoff people's money.

Wow, a company wants to earn money, amazing. Again, your completionist thing is utter bullshit, if this is not in-game content from the start you do not HAVE to unlock it. Except if you're too bad at the game and need more health of course.

Again, did you not read what I just wrote?
BotW is a clear example of this.
All of the Amiibo unlockables ARE IN THE GAME without even needing any DLC installed, or any Amiibo scanned, or anything else.
You can get the Zelda tunics and all other stuff by simply using cheat codes.

How can I get those if they are not in the game without the amiibos?
Because they are ALREADY in the game.

What will happen if a particular amiibo ends production or is no longer produced anymore?
Well then, you're fucked. You won't any way to unlock the so called "additional content" (because it's not additional if it's already in the cart itself).

    That's the problem.
Having everything tied up to a physical object is just insane and stupid.
If Nintendo added the option to have a digital version of the amiibo, we could be on the safe side and no longer depend on the availability of one stupid object to get what we want in game.

So... you're ok with the gaming market as it is today, which is deteriorating by the second with minds that are bent on only making money rather than quality content???
FFS, Half-life died today, Half-life saved Valve (and steam from failing), but Valve couldn't save Half-life, why, you ask, as would any normal person. Because they are more about making money then making anything that resembles content with even a minuscule amount of effort at the moment and fans hate them. In 20 years you'll look back to what gaming could have had been but all you'll be able see are big signs telling you to pay more to unlock what should have had been unlocked in the first place!

If you're ok with gaming as we knew and loved die because of the mentality that you carry, then go on ahead, toss more money in the never ending pot of greed that are current day video game devs.

enlight me on what is the diferent of digital content tbh? serious lets say it was actual dlc you payed some $, when the console supporting the network goes down anyone who didnt downloaded it is screwed and even worse you can just buy an amiibo but when the net is cutdown you cant buy a used dlc code because no network, it isnt muhc time on ps3/xbox360 network servers left, jsut like the xbox they will go down and you will need to hack to get dlc or even buy a console wich already has it installed lol those are the only way.

phisical dlc being an extra disc or amiibo or a special edition or something is much better becuase you can actualy buy it, digital dlc is the worst because in afew years maybe no more than 2 imo ps3/xbox360 all those dlcs will be gone forever without a way to get them at all unless you hack or buy an entire console with it installed just think about it...

thats why im always waiting for releases with dlc on disc, not to mention nintendo amiibo stuff is very very cheap just go into ebay and buy those nfc tags and you have everything for some pennys :P, or use your phone to spoof nfc, while actual dlc you need to buy it or have the console hacked you cant spoof it xD.
