For a refresher, Metal Gear Survive is a spin-off of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain that integrates MGSV:TPP's gameplay elements into a survival action format. It will include two main modes: Single Player and Co-op.

Single Player takes you through the story of Metal Gear Survive while learning fundamental gameplay elements. These skills will be put to the test in online Co-op mode.

Co-op mode lets you team up with friends and players from around the world to take on various missions.

Progress and rewards obtained in both Single Player and Co-op mode carry over and apply to your character across both modes.

You can read more about the gameplay on the game's official website.

The game is up for pre-orders which will yield you the following rewards:

My biggest concern right now is that the ad only says it's available for PS4 and Xbone. I hope they're still going to have a PC release (otherwise, no modding).

Edit: Disregard. The webpage says Steam as well. Weird that they didn't put it on the ad though.

Wow, I completely forgot about this mess. I was almost hoping they canceled it.

While I never played Metal Gear Solid (I should, though), judging from the looks of it, I don't have much faith in this game.
The Solid series is really good, especially MGS3, the main "problem" with them is that you must play all of them to get a good grasp of the story, which sometimes scares new players away. It's a shame that they had to ruin this awesome series with Survive: some might say I'm just hating on it, but take a loook at the trailer and you'll see what I'm talking about. There's even a comparison video that shows how the map is basically identical to MGSV's Afghanistan, which means it's probably going to be a quick cash grab by Konami.

Oh boy, instead of investing money on a game that will be buried to death by the games community, they could and should have used that money to finish the story of The Phantom Pain how it was intended by Kojima.
Seeing how they treated Kojima they'd probably trash the series and burn all his work in front of the fans just to spite him instead of doing something sensible and make a proper conclusion to MGS.

The story is already written. All they had to do is making new chapters and finishing the cutscenes.

Yup, but they won't release it because nowadays Konami hates Kojima, and that work was made back in the day by him. Just look at how they removed its name from MGSV's cover, how they didn't allow him to go to The Game Awards 2015 or all the other stuff that happened during TPP's development. They'd piss on the fans and the franchise just to publicly shame Kojima.

I wonder how many of these ideas / game mechanics are from MGS V (ie. mechanics already paid for and cut from game / unfinished )

IF it were a new IP, hell even if it was real people instead of some dumb zombie'esc type of enemy, it probably would gave sold a few copies (whilst still receiving backlash)

This will not "recoup development costs"
Despite the fact Kojima and his team created one if the best engines to date and all most all models snd textures, etc.

This is essentially a dlc. Konami will charge full whack snd struggle to offload it, luckily it's digital.

It's MUCH easier to burn all those 1s and 0s then millions of discs

Fuck Konami... They'll ruin the metal gear series! (hell you could argue that they already did with the announcement of metal gear survive...) They only made this game as a cash grab! And guess what? TPP probably will never have a proper ending because of konami!

I wonder how much this is going to cost. It uses the same engine, maps, models, and textures. No way this took more than a few months to slap together. Now they're just sitting on it until next year, maybe finding a way to slice it up into pieces and sell it EA-style.
