"Mario Kart 9" should feature every Mario Kart racing/battle stage

    So what, like...

    MK8D Part A + MK8D Part B
1/2 of tracks 1/2 of tracks

I mean, it's still split into separate parts. If somebody had Part A and you had Part B, it's just like before - you don't have the tracks, you can't play together.
At least you would probably get them cheaper, but then you'd have to switch between them if you want to play the other tracks.
The way it's split up, they might as well be two separate games because they still wouldn't work together.

I still don't think it's such a good idea. On paper, yeah, but actually trying it?

Pretty much, yup. Its the same way how you could buy NSLU separate or download it straight into NSMBU, just with the extra aspect of online and how if you have both games worth of content you can play with others with both games of content or if you just have one of the games you can only play with others with just that one game. And yeah if you have one game, downloading the other into it would likely cost less than buying it as a separate standalone title.

I don't see why it wouldn't be a good idea. It'd be much dumber in my opinion to release a separate Mario Kart game for the Switch that can't at all be mixed with MK8 Deluxe. How frustrating would it be to be playing the new game of content but then wanting to play as a certain racer or on a certain track thats only available in the other game? It'd be a pointless barrier that made sense to exist in years past, but really makes no sense to exist today when it easily can not exist. Ya know?

But I don't see what you mean about switching between them if you have both "game's" content in one game, you wouldn't have to join a different lobby for the other game's races and racers, they could all be intermixed if you have both downloaded into one. You would probably have to go to a different lobby if they added a new mode like Double Dash or something though and instead wanted to play in that mode, but hey it would be cool in that respect as well because you'd be able to play that new Double Dash mode on the MK8 Deluxe stages not in the new game. Frankly I think it'd be fantastic, and the smart decision to do for the series on the Switch.

Well, I was thinking about how you said that they are both standalone, because if of course you had both of them, unless it has some Sonic & Knuckles-esque lock-on feature, you would have to quit one and open the other. That, or have it like Part A Retail and Part B DLC, or Part B Retail and Part A DLC.

The only thing is how would you do the lock-on with retail versions? You can only have one cartridge in. That, or the cards also give you an option to install the content to the hard drive, albeit not being bootable of course to avoid sneaky tactics of "buy, install and sell".

Well think about NSLU, you can buy it as a physical separate release or download it straight into NSMBU. That's what I'm saying, a situation very similar to that.

Ninty missed an opportunity with mkswitch. They coulda had (as other people already said) dd switching as an option as it was a fun switchup to the formula me n my bros loved. Having someone watch my six or me watching someone elses was fun

And as an optional mode it wouldnt get hate as ruining the formula or whatever.

Now it will either be a dlc or its own game which is dumb in multiple ways. Unless the switch dlc added a plethora of maps and features characters and such(like dk jr or diddy n funky, sanic n moar) or they release a new mkswitch that, if u own mk8d u get a lock-on feature where the two combine people will feel gipped

Btw sonic 3 n knuckles i hope every game eventually gets what you did oh so long ago... I feel this is the one thing i see that nobody else does

Well like I've been saying release the "new game" as a standalone title for those that don't want to get MK8 Deluxe, but also release it as a discounted DLC expansion for MK8Deluxe. In the same way you could buy New Super Luigi U separately or as a DLC expansion for New Super Mario Bros U. If each game has as much content as MK8, then I don't think anyone would feel gipped. And then when you combine both games, you get all the content, but they can bleed into each other giving you more content. Say the new game is all double dash based, now you can play all the MK8Deluxe races in that mode with 2 racers if you please, while you could also play the new races as just a single racer like MK8Deluxe allows. Seems like a great idea actually.

I believe that they'll come up with another gimicky gameplay feature (like antigravity in MK8) maybe full plane mode like Diddy kong racing, or maybe double dash 2.

No but it's a possibility that Nintendo may in some way.

Years before we thought Nintendo would never release their games on non-Nintendo plaforms and that they wouldn't charge to play online and now look at it.

    ?

Super Mario Run on the iPhone is a very far cry from, say, Super Mario Galaxy. I'd honestly say that all iPhone/Android games exists solely as an interactive advertisement for the real game on the Nintendo Switch/3DS/Wii U/etc.

And we only though Nintendo wouldn't charge for online at the time because they didn't charge for online at the time. I'm pretty sure that most people didn't sincerely believe Nintendo would never charge for online. hell, i myself proposed a tiered system where Mushroom Club was free and at the same level as what we have now on the Wii U, Fire Flower/Tanooki club where you paid a little but got voice chat and maybe synced saves, and Star Club which cost a bit more but backed up all your saves online, synced VC games and progress between all consoles, and gave you game discounts and freebies.

Mario Kart Wii CTGP Revolution kind of does this on the Wii. People remade all those old DS and snes/gba tracks and put them on the wii.

MK9 needs new mechanics and changes, for example

    • Weather and Day Cycles using the real conditions of where we are playing.
    • More useful shortcuts, maybe using items (like to Crash Team Racing)
    • Change characters colors and skins (like to SmashBros)
    • More levels of weight (Lightest-Light-Average-Heavy-Heavier)
    • Variety of Characters (Stanley, Pauiline, Piantissimo, King K Rool, Wart, Dixie Kong, Cranky Kong)

It doesn't matter which Mario it is, it's on a non-Nintendo platform, that's the point.

The current online service of Nintendo is pretty mediocre and if they don't upgrade it before they start charging it will surely affect them, hell, they have had years to improve the online but never did.

    1) Those players must hate games like rockband then. Most games today have extra content you can only download. I really dont see the problem with this.
    2) Potentially yeah. I mean we're in 2017 come on... also if 2 is an issue, then 3) shouldnt be a problem since you're playing offline.
    3) Having 2 games in the same plateform that are almost identical would also split the community.

I just don't get the hostility towards this model. Its like people are so used to want a brand new game that they can't see that in this case it makes no sense. In a next technical generation sure, there'll be need for a brand new mario kart, but till then besides milking i dont see the point. Id rather be milked for adding stuff in the existing game.

Same with Smash Bros, Pokken and basically all games that arent story driven.

Would like item swapping to be implemented into MK8DX in an update...... and some DLC.

Mario Kart 9 should feature every course from every previous Mario Kart but should strictly be developed as a SNES game using an optimised Super Mario Kart engine. I'll let them get away with emulating the more advanced DSP chips but strictly no Super FX.

    Make Mario Kart Great Again.

I would like to see Mario Kart 9 have customisable vehicles. Like choose own colours/designs/patterns, put stickers/graphics, also be able to share these with anyone and download other people's (sort of like Forza Horizon 3).

Also something to encourage longer replayability that doesn't involve online (I've never been a fan of online gaming).

For the third point, I meant how in the original Mario Kart 8 you had to choose the tracks you wanted to play. That's either original tracks, original and pack 1, original and pack 2, pack 1 only, pack 2 only, or all tracks together. Not necessarily everybody has the packs, so you end up splitting into separate groups. I don't mean anything like the fanbase, just how the online multiplayer would work.

tbh, I'm not that bothered now. I just think it's an odd choice.

Actually want some 8 Deluxe DLC before we get 9 but I know i'm probably in the minority there
