Hacking Mario kart 8 US update to EU version

Hey lads,

I would like to update my Mario Kart 8 which is a EU version of the game but there seems to be only US update v64 available for download.
Can I simply patch this EUR release with US patch, will it work?
Also, you just overwrite files right?

For DLCs you need to own them to be able to use them right?

You need to own dlc to use them.
I'm unsure if the update works but you will need smash if you want to use updates.
