Read any good books lately? <b>Sadly, I've not done a lot of reading lately. I started Aldous Huxley's "Brave New World" about a month ago. (I've never read it) but it's gotten neglected. </b>
Should the right to free speech ever cover the right to tell a blatant lie that could lead to hatred or possible violence?
<b>As unfortunate as lies are, our world is filled with them, and many times built upon them. I don't cotton to liars (if you'll pardon the Southernism) but I'd prefer to allow free speech and have the lies found and their ramifications tended to after the fact than to have censorship of everything before it can be said. </b>
There's a huge surge in the support for right wing politics across the globe unfortunately, and America doesn't seem to be getting off any more lightly. It's a pretty sad indictment of how society is going. What do you think are a few of the major causes of it?
<b>No, America has not fared any better than the UK, and in many ways I would say that the movement stems from my own country. Mcuh of it seems to have come from a fear instilled in my countrymen by our own government, and people trying to cope in todays unsure world. They long for the "good old days" when they felt less afraid of the world around them. Unfortunately, in today's age, we cannot simply shut our eyes and wish away technological advances that bring the world to our fingertips, and allow new concepts like identity theft, cybercrime, and the free flow of ideas (whether we agree with them or not) to us or to our children. What we have to do is become more tolerant of people in our shrinking world, and more wise of what or who we listen to, rather than making the world into one large police state.
The right-wing path we seem to be on will make the world more of a dystopia than a utopia. </b>

I've never been a fan of country music, but my friend is introducing me to names I've head all my life and never payed any attention to. Names like Waylon Jennings, Johnny Cash, and Willie Nelson, and I'm really loving what I hear. Modern country has little to offer to me, but the country classics are amazingly pleasing.</b>
Do you want to see Simon Cowell publicly executed on telly in the name of entertainment as much as I do?
