I can't remember the name of the MP3 player for DS that looked like a two-screen version of a color iPod Classic. It has some very odd name, and I'm looking for it. It even let you use the bottom screen for the scroll wheel, and I'd love a 3DS port!

I used it all the time.
When I first got my 3DS, and since it came with a R4i 3DS sd-hc I used that app ALL the time, and I... broke my 3DS Audio Jack deu to heavy use :P

Yes, it is.
Ever since the DSi update that happened on December 2012 DS Homebrew is dead. It became even more dead when Ninty shut down Nintendo WiFi connection to Wii and DS in 2014.

Besides, nobody cares about these 2 anymore since in Wii U CFW stuff had been being developed and same with 3DS since 2015 so...yeah

No. Homebrew gets never older. It's just sleeping, waiting for soneone, who will revive ds homebrew scene

No, it's not dead in my opinion. A small group of people (like me) still love the ds, because it's more of a challange to develop for it than it is with modern consoles, because it still has a 2d engine and simple sound channels, and because it's so easy to do low level coding for it (in comparison with the 3ds and it's pica gpu and dsp for example).
Gericom is right. The 3ds is it's own console, so just because some developers moved on to the 3ds, that doesn't mean that a small group, like me (making UndertaleDS), Gericom (YoutubeDS and GBARunner2) and Wolfgange (MineDS) have to move away as well. The DS is by far one of my favorite consoles to develop for and hacks and homebrew for consoles will never die, (c'mon they still make nes homebrew)

So in brief words, NO , No Nintendo DS homebrew/hacking is not dead!
