Hi,
Basically the problem is that I have a scratched Halo 4 disc and I've been trying to find a way to install its contents to the flash drive I use for my x360 from the PC. Is there a tool that actually lets you do this, since this seems like something that wouldn't be too hard? If not I guess what I could do is mod the dvd-rom to read burned discs, make a copy of Halo 4 and then install it to the USB drive.

Thanks for any help

Nope.
The only viable way is to get the disc resurfaced or polished.
You can try some turtlewax and see if the disc installs on the 360.

Even if you flash the DVD drive, you'll still need a disc present for authentication purposes.

Yeah the disc still reads and I'm able to play the game 'cept it crashes during the campaign. Does this change anything?

Try installing it.
Hopefully all the files will be copied over correctly, tho I doubt that.

Otherwise, try the turtle wax and see if it installs.
If it does, then you can just leave the disc in the tray as it's only needed for authentication.

Thing is I've tried installing it several times to no avail. It always stops at 40%. Is there a chance of damaging the disc by using turtle wax? If so I guess flashing the DVD would be the safest bet.

Nope.
It should fill the scratches in a bit with a thin layer.
Sometimes just enough to make it readable again.

Flashing the drive depends on your 360's build year and can be expensive.
Also, you'd need to hunt down a copy of Halo 4 then and burn it on a Verbatim DVD+R DL with a hacked Liteon iHAS x24 B burner.

Financially, it's cheaper to get a new Halo 4 copy if you're not interested in piracy or get the disc resurfaced/polished by a disc polisher.
Perhaps a game store close by offers such service.

I see. I'll try the turtle wax and see if that's enough to install the game. If not I'll see if getting the dvd flashed is financially worth it.

I'm not telling you should flash your drive but if you want to do it just for one scratched game..
It financially is just better to get it polished then ;p

Good luck with it.
Let me know if it worked!

I've had mixed results with it, majority of them positive.

most goty games have a folder labeled content which is the same location dlc is stored. the ids are 0'd out and npdrm'd allowing you to install and use them on a legit system. they're read as "free" by the system basically.
