Right now, I have a Cube that needs some love. Sadly, the laser is practically finished.
With only a softmodded Wii that is capable of running the older Action Replay via Homebrew Channel, using a Gameshark 1019 as the AR dongle, and an SD-Gecko, I'm trying to softmod the darn Cube without inserting a disc! >_> I guess its impossible without a working laser or a hardmod? Soldering is one of my weak points, haha...

You'll need a modchip if your laser's dead, I don't think there are any ways of booting homebrew that do not involve either a disc or a modchip.

Yeah I think you're out of luck for softmods. You could try obtaining an IDE-EXI, which'll run an IDE HDD through the memory card port, no soldering required. But they've been out of production for a while now, though I think there have been some revival runs on the gc-forever forums.
