Hypothetically speaking, if you had/have a child would you let him/her with a male childcare assist?

I'm a male primary school teacher and have taught a number of lower grades. I've taught grade 3 for 5 years and loved it. This year I had the opportunity to teach kindergarten for a few weeks and loved it even more. I'm now teaching grade 4. Next year I'll be requesting to teach kindergarten for the full year.

Kindergarten in particular is very much female teacher dominated, and I'd get a lot of "How are you handling it (smirk)?" questions from teachers and friends, but I thought it was great. The parents loved me and I'd go back in a flash.

Having said all of that, I have recently had a child of my own and had I not had my own personal experience of looking after a baby/toddler, I don't think I would have been anywhere near as successful in kindergarten as I was. Prior to having my own child, I never would have wanted to work as a kindergarten teacher.
