How to Use the PS4's Web Browser for Youtube.

According to a few forum posts and news sites, you can easily access Youtube without waiting for the official app. Apparently, all you need to do is go to Youtube.com/tv, and you're free to watch any Youtube video you want. I've tried it, and it works as you expect it would. The interface is a bit ugly and hard to get used to, but other than that videos load fine. No need to wait for the official app, you can go ahead and watch dat youtube now B-)

I can actually get the same result with a 100/50 fiber connection and Chrome. Not saying the PS4 Youtube actually works, but the result is partially Google's fault too :3

Hopefully the future YT app will fix this..

I like how you had to type the web address in and then add it to your favorites/bookmarks so you'd never have to type it in again. Anyway, why is this an app? Last I checked, the PS4 wasn't a smartphone/tablet. But then the common folk don't even know how to type anymore, let alone web addresses. It's easier to click stuff. And I suppose people can't be hassled to get a USB keyboard to connect with one of those high speed USB 3.0 ports the PS4 has.

If you pair a tablet or mobile up to the ps4 as well through youtube then it makes searching etc an absolute breeze

Simply plug in a keyboard as i did, they are like $5 for a basic one.

He did say he had 100/50 fiber. regardless of how he got Internet, YouTube should never buffer with a connection like that.
fr me, I have 50/5 DSL, and it acts the same way as his. It really depends on what video you watch. some never buffer and some buffer several times.

I live roughly 5 km from one of the central internet hubs and have a direct fiber connection and 1000/100 ethernet to my computer. So it's not an internet connection issue. This also happens with the trinet connection (1000/100) at my university.

One thing that just occurred to me.... The sound on the 2600 sucked less back then the harsh sound we hear now is from infinitely better speakers we have now, back when the 2600 was new speakers produced a almost muffled sound, like CRTs made old graphics look slightly better.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I wonder if I could recommend that to some emulation devs that perhaps the sound could use some smoothing out to simulate those old TVs
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think a few of the early systems could benefit from that, at least up to the 8 bit generation, by the 16 bit generation I think TVs had gotten a lot better in almost every way
