Gaming How to tell if rom is good or bad?

I hear that some roms are corrupt and fail to work. I read something about CRC numbers that help you check whether a rom is a good one or bad one. Can anyone elaborate on how to tell and where to find these numbers?

people use it to make sure the file they're downloading is genuine.

use some app to check a file for crc info.

i usually just test it myself.. but i always scan my roms with DSlazy for the bricking virus (which is virtually non-existant now-a-days).... i also use that program to trim my roms.... anyways.... hope this helps a little.
