Hacking How to distinguish the real AK2 and AK2i

I am a Acekard Official distributor in Brazil.
My supplier is also the official distributor in China.

I recently received a shipment of Acekard 2i with functioning abnormally.

Bypass AP does not work in any microSD.

Update firmware (1.4.1) does not work, despite having been upgraded from the factory.
I opened the Acekard 2i, and saw that has a different chip. Eon brand.

In contact with the Acekard Team, I was informed that this chip is completely fake.
The answer was this:
Hi,

The card in the attached picture is fake!! We never used EON chip on Acekard.
Original Acekard alway uses the "SST" chip and from August 2010,all original Acekard are upgraded to firmware 1.4.1 when being produced.
Just as you said,original Acekard can be upgraded as many times as possible,even though they have been upgraded before you get it.

So these "Acekard" with EON chip are completely fake.
Please contact your supplier as soon as possible to ask for replacements.

Thank you for your support and all the efforts you did to original Acekard.

Information Acekard 2i fake:

AKAIO 1.8.5 and 1.8.5a works. But the bypass does not work (in any MicroSD)
- Chip EON brand (the original SST).
- ID:0fc2 HW: 44 SVN: 1034
- Firmware update does not work.

This was the response from the Chinese distributor.:

I am sorry for the fake card.
We confirmed with our purchasing department just now and we are told that the ak2 factory was broken into 2 factories and we ordered from one of them.
Sorry, we don't know the card is fake as they told us the card is the same as before.
Please kindly return all the fake cards to us and we can send replacement to you.

We apologize for any inconvenience caused to you

The Acekard I got has the Eon chip.
It stopped working on my Dsi, after it froze while I was playing 999.
Now I get the "an error has occured" message everytime I try to boot it.
Was running AKAIO 1.8.5 at the time.

My friend picked me up 2 Ak2i's when she was in China. One is real, one is fake. The real one works just fine. The fake one's clamshell opened way too easily. The thing is, it's not the EON chip. No AKAIO that I've tried has worked with it. I'll take pictures and upload them later today.

I don't think the Acekard's have a snapping mechanism for the shell. You'll need to glue it back together I believe.

I just got a new type acekard 2i, it has the little black i on the box and card on the end of the word acekard. I looked inside it, and it is differant to the pics you showed. it has a little black domed chip on one side, and a small sst chip on the other. The sdcard holder clicks to hold the card in place. I updated it with the official ak2ifw_update_3ds21_DSi143_onDSi_NO44 file from the site, and it has updated ok. it is running akaio 1.8.7 fine btw

Are these new official acekards? It was bought from xpertron.co.uk

I checked it on the acekard.com anti clone and it passed.

Could you maybe update the first post to reflect these new revision cards?

That says supports 3ds, but surely the new one that supports the 3ds shold look like the one i posted.

Get one from xpertron.co.uk it might be £17 but i can assure you it is real and you will have it in 2 or 3 days, not weeks.

Is "buy-acekard.com" a legit site? I just got an Acekard2i from there, and it seems legit. Except for one thing. On the DS Lite's menu, instead of saying "Acekard", and having the AceKard2i Logo, it has another icon and name. Although the cart works fine.

I just purchased one from ndsgamer.com . It's on the acekard site as a reseller, so I assume they sell legit Acekards.

Update: I just received my Acekard2i today. The anti-counterfeit sticker was still on it and hadn't been checked. I checked it myself on the Acekard website and it was verified as a legit Acekard.

Acekards have glue to keep them shut, but a razor hobby knife ran along the edges will pop it open BUT you will most likely break one of the plastic pins of the casing....nothing glue won't fix (super glue)
