Example: 手紙 - in Japanese, this means "letter," but in Chinese, it means "toilet paper." I want to learn enough Chinese to be able to read and understand signs. I don't know if I'll have enough time to devote to acquiring fluency in the language, but I'll see what happens.

My reading is good ? Since I'm part Viet I'm interested in Chinese since we have a bit of the same vocabulary , but I rather speak Chinese then write in it. Isn't there a different symbol for every word D:?

I understood Tieng Viet Khong xD. I don't speak it, but I learned the accents, marks, and pronunciations, I just need to get the language down . How many languages do you know Densetsu? I wish I knew Japanese !
