I've been trying to get this to work for the past 2 hours now, I got to step 17 and I'm stuck at "Failed to mount CTRNAND", I've used the search function to search this thread and nothing seems to work, when I press power then hold start, it just comes up with the same "Failed to mount CTRNAND" screen, really not sure what more I can do do at this point, any suggestions?
Can you even boot into the Luma3DS settings?

I can! If I hold select and power I boot into the Luma settings.
Alright, I just wanted to make sure you actually had A9LH installed.
Download the latest Stable. This one changed the payload booting to have a menu instead when you hold start upon booting. See if that works

OMG Thank you sooo much!!!
I've been struggling with this all day and most of yesterday!
No problem! ^_^ I am just helpful member, send your thanks over the Luma3DS dev team! They did all the real work here!
1. There's no such thing as official, only if it was a mixture of guides made by the app's developers themselves
Expect there kind of is. The 3ds.guide is community approved as the most trusted, tested, and safe guide, which basically makes it the "Official guide of the community."
I don't want to dump on your guide, but it's really no better than youtube guides. Your guide doesn't go into depth, lack troubleshooting, lacks safety checks, and worst all, it's out of date. The 11.3 kernel exploit has been released and your guide doesn't include this. It also doesn't include a warning for 11.4

I used that guide to cfw the first time my n3dsxl....and now I updated to 11.4.
should I use that
https://3ds.guide/updating-to-boot9strap

to upgrade the cfw ?

In a moment of that guide ask if i have "3dsafe" ...If I think not...but not sure.
Yeah use that guide you linked. If you dont know what 3dsafe is then you dont have it.
