Hello! I recently made a full guide to set up CFW fully on O3DS and N3DS (this includes all models: 3DS, 3DS XL, 2DS, N3DS, N3DSXL.) This guide is meant to be a setup leading to setting up a9lh, though it can also be used as standalone to simply get CFW.

    Here is the guide: v2.3
    N3DS:
    https://www.dropbox.com/s/dahzh5ypr5i2u7s/N3DS%20CFW%20Guide.txt?dl=0

    O3DS: https://www.dropbox.com/s/3omwts6bm4jr0p9/O3DS%20CFW%20Guide.txt?dl=0

To download the files, go to https://www.dropbox.com/s/48arj3xjubgkehn/O3DS CFW Pack.zip?dl=0 for O3DS, and https://www.dropbox.com/s/gyf6545t9lwutvr/N3DS%20CFW%20Pack.zip?dl=0 for N3DS. This includes the full guide. This guide is made as to directly follow into Plailect's guide: https://plailect.github.io/OTP/

Please give feedback in this thread!

Why not just post it here instead of linking it?
Also, firmware files are copyrighted, so you can't link them here (if your packs contain firmware files)

Done. If you're wondering, my pack contains no firmware files; you have to get those yourself.

Guide updated to v1.2, fixing some errors, most notably with downgrading if you are under firmware 9.x.

Some feedback for you, as I just went through a o3DS using your guide that was on 10.3

    • Why do you not mention BrowserHax for 10.3? I went through BrowserHax method to downgrade to 9.2 before following your guide...
    • What the heck is this step?
You mention to just look in the folder, and that we'll need the firmware.bin. Need it for what? Do what with it? You never mention them again, or the rei folder again. ?????

Overall very good guide. Could use some basic fixes here and there to make sure people understand what you're saying. For example:
That is dangerously worded.. As just above you made sure to tell them to eject the card safely from the menu, but then you just tell them to basically yank it out. :P

    Thanks for the guide!

Fixed, thanks for reporting. This now mentions the browser nag bypass on 10.2 and 10.3, as well as minor fixes.

Guide updated to v2.0, now featuring a N3DS section. Can a moderator edit the title to reflect this?

Guide updated to version 2.2, fixing the mess of yesterday 2.1's pack. If you have a 2.1 pack, it is necessary to switch to the latest pack, as 2.1 is broken beyond recovery.

    Cool, great work!

Already got the OTP. Any chance of upgrading the guide on how to compile and install arm9loaderhax, then set up bootctr9 with boot options for Decrypt9/Uncart/aureinand? The tutorials out there are really confusing and I don't know where to start!

I followed this one yesterday, imo it is very straightforward.

Yep, that one is not that bad. What worries me most is what to do after that. In my case I'm confused about on how to set up BootCtr9/AuReiNand and also having the option for Decrypt9 and Uncart on boot!

Any chance you could speicify which firmware from the firmware zip to use? When I ever try to launch the CFW it shows the splash, but never then closed and goes back to normal FW.

Also, its unclear if in the phase where you need to put your stuff back onto the SD card after using the emu tool, if you should restore the boot file from the SDcard, as its created during the process.

    Hi!

I recently bought a brand new 2DS and downgraded it to 9.2 Firmware using this guide.

Now i noticed it takes like 2 seconds to load the icons when on the homescreen, im unsure if this was the case before.
can someone confirm is this is fine or not?

    thanks in advance!

This is normal. Downgrading to 9.2 is a different firmware and as such takes more time to boot icons. The advantage is that poweroff is much faster.

Updated guide to 2.2.2, fixing some wording and clarifying on database building.

    thanks!

also i cant use the "Decrypt9WIP" app, it crashes back to the gridlauncher.
any other app i can try to backup my system?
or i can i launch backups without flashing a CFW?

i read plenty of stuff and guides today but the more i read to more confused i am :)
