So I have a question. http://www.cheapr4i.com/r4i-gold-3ds-for-3ds-3ds-xl-v45010-and-dsi-v145-p-184.html , does this play 3ds roms? Does any r4 play 3ds roms? I am thinking about picking up again if you can and it sounds like these do play 3ds roms so wanted to check it here first.

Nothing plays 3DS ROMs.

Period. Nothing. There is no cart, no hack, no emulator, NOTHING.

kk dude thanks for the info, been a while since the 3ds was released, did it take this long with the DS to get a flashcard working on it?

The DS didn't take that long, but that's because security was relatively weak then.

For a more modern example, look at the PS3. It took like ~5 years for it to get hacked openly.

Man, you should read the stickies.
Nothing plays 3DS roms since 3DS isn't hacked(not fully, and not avaiable to public yet).
All you can do is play DS games on your 3DS trough flashcards.
I recommend you R4i Gold, it's very good, officialy supported by Wood, have constant firmware updates, and yet it's cheap.

I got a FireEmblem 3ds bundle on the way and was wondering what would be the best flashtcart to purchase to play NDS roms?

I'm going to assume that it has the latest firmware.

Preferably, i'd like to get a WOOD supported cart.

Wood isn't much special, the only reason people freaked out about it was that it gave clone carts actual updates... but now the author has closed the source so it's just like AKAIO and EoS and such. Updated software that's locked to specific carts.
(A lot of carts claim they still have Wood support, but it's an older version with the version number changed.)

R4ids.cn releases a new R4i Gold 3DS with a "RTS".

Hopefully they'll still update the Rev.C cards (including the blocked ones).

Is it actually a new PCB? RTS was added to Wood a few versions ago, curious if the label change is just the label or not.

They've already released a update for DSi FW 1.4.5.

I was mag staff when hacks were actually released, it wasn't that long ago.

Earlier things shown were often on dev consoles, which don't check for sigs.

A month ago yeah, Ive emailed them numerous times and they keep saying 'soon'. Wonder how long 'soon' is; if ever.

Ended up purchasing an R4i 3ds v 4.5 from NDS-Card, now just gotta wait the 2 weeks or so to test it out.
