Gaming Firmware Update Compilation thread / List of Flashcards working on 3DS

Just a heads up, in the original post, the Acekard 2i is shown with a 1.8.8 firmware when the latest firmware is 1.8.9. Can someone please test it?

Pong, Ace3ds works on 2.2.0-4 for a while now and the same with the r4idsn card. Acekard 2i with AKAIO 1.8.9 doesn't work on 2.2.0-4 or 3.0.0-5, obviously. AKAIO is a kernel so it wouldn't matter if it was 1.8.8 or 1.8.9. The aK Team makes the boot loader and that's what is important when it comes to official Nintendo updates.

I hate to be "that guy" who randomly asks questions that everyone else knows already, but I'm rather new to the 3ds mod scene... so I'd like to ask you folks:
I have a 3dstti, which I believe is already blocked. I've been too scared to actually test it, as I'm not sure whether the "Nintendo will brick your card" rumor has been fully disproven yet, but either way.... my questions:

a) have there been any confirmed reports of bricks due to cart usage yet?
b) I'm fairly certain my 3dstti is useless as it's a relatively old card... I want to buy a dstwo. I haven't seen any confirmation that it does or does not work on the new firmware released yesterday (the one that enables 3d cameras). I have 2.2.0 v4 because I went to play mario kart with a friend via download play. Is it safe to update AND buy a DSTwo? Or should I go with the R4sdhc and update instead?
c) Has anyone confirmed whether your 3DS auto-updates if internet is on or if you're close to someone else with a newer firmware? I've got a friend in the same major as me and he's usually more informed in matters of gaming/computers, so I think he might be telling the truth regarding this question, but it still seems to me like he's BSing/trolling. I mean... my DS has yet to autoupdate, but maybe it's because I hadn't updated since like 2 months ago.

How long did the AK take to do the last fix when the system was updated? I'm seriously thinking about updating it, since I'm mostly playing my original Pokemon White and the minigames that came with the 3DS [and downloaded stuff, since it's second-handed].

Seriously, I wonder what new games the DS has that would interest me

the R4i 3DS Revouloution for DS from www.r4ids.cn is blocked.
i bought this card, pulled it out of its packaging and it did work.
i never updated it as it did work with the firmware the 3ds had, now updated the 3ds and the card still shows the spongebob but when i try to load it it fails and the 3ds gives me a black screen saying error, restart your 3ds by powerring it of.
i cannot use the update at said site cuase the card wont even load, any help?
i do not own any other nintendo product.
since the .... (pong) closed the other thread (like the hits) so we have to visit his, lame. so now i re-ask.
can anyone help?

you should of updated the flashcard before 3DS
if you dont have a DS/DSi or 3DS where it can work on you cannot update

you can always try and ask a friend to use it on there DS to update it

tho i dont see why i should help you anyway

you should of updated the flashcard before 3DS

Can't answer that - AFAIK, there's been NO bricked cards due to a Ninty firmware update, although I have read that some people have claimed that their cards have 'gone wrong' after an update - that could be just because their cards were not compatible

Virtually all flashcards CANNOT access the specialist hardware of the 3DS or DSi - this includes the camera/SD Slot/DSi 'mode'.
So regardless of 3DS Firmware Updates, flashcards will still be unable to access the Camera.

In all cases where I've done a update, I've had to go through the 3DS settings & 'ask' if there's a update avaliable. If I get a report back stating there is a update, when I select to download the update I get a 'Are you sure' type message.
To the best of my knowledge there is NO WAY your 3DS firmware can get automatically updated without your permission
