As the title says, Final Fantasy 13 is available for Android, provided you live in Japan. The game includes a free one hour demo. For a yen value that roughly converts to $16 USD, you get unlimited access for the life of the game. I use the words "life of the game" because this game marks Square Enix's first foray into cloud gaming provided directly by them.

Well. It looks like the unpatched PC release wasn't ugly enough. Squenix knew if they tried hard enough, they could fuck it up even more.
::slow clap:: Mission accomplished!

I know it's because it's a cloud thing, but still... that looks like JPEGs saved with the quality setting to 30%.

Wow, this is beyond bad... The only thing that is semi-good in FF13, is the graphics. Take that away, and there is no reason at all to play the damn thing...

Japanese companies are beyond saving at this point (if we consider other recent news). Instead of fixing their mistakes, and improving their games up to the standard of their international competition, they try to find new ways to milk their constantly shrinking fanbase...

The only thing that somewhat keeps them afloat, is the japanese customers' nationalistic buying tendecies. They prefer to buy domestic games just because they are domestic... I know that for Americans this is hard to believe, because they are not used to it, but to other markets this is fairly common... It is not a matter of taste at all...

Yeah, all Japanese games are complete shit and sell badly in the West. Just look at Dark Souls :rolleyes:

TemplarGR has a point to a degree. Japanese gaming companies are just getting stupid these days. Just look at the fall of SEGA and Nintendo's recent decisions. Its like they just don't want to evolve with the times. It's sad because those same Japanese companies used to be the absolutely best part of gaming.

The PS4 certainly seems to be doing great though. And Nintendo has made weird decisions ever since the announcement of the DS, really.

So this must be using the new cloud server thing they announced last year capable of building skyrim 10x size games quickly. With the downside of needing to connect to the cloud/server to make, publish and send out updates for the said games. If I remember right they said they are opening to licenses this tech to any game developers. I thought they would end up doing a FF title to show it off...but honestly thought if would of been 12 final remix HD, not 13. Call me disappointed.

I'm not sure if this is backhand racism, tunnel vision or something else, but it's odd to say the least. What's wrong with Japanese companies making games for a Japanese audience? It's not like we treat Western companies as "beyond saving" if their games don't cater to the Oriental audience.

Erm...the fall of Sega didn't exactly happen "these days". And which 'recent decisions' would you refer to on nintendo's part? The fact that they're producing cheaper games or their plastic toys that are insanely popular? Or is "evolve with the times" mean they have to come up with buggy releases, charge a couple extra hundred dollars so they can have games with prettier hardware trump gameplay?

...and why the hell is one game that's perceived bad among some gamers from one company mean an entire country's industry is going down the drain?

The whole song and dance about SEGA's supposed "fall" started being boring in 1999 and it's still boring today. They're restructuring the company and cutting off excess fat, something many companies do in recession. They're making Yakuza Zero as we speak, Yakuza 5 is coming to the west, ATLUS, a SEGA-owned studio is pumping out games left and right, specifically Etrian Odyssey and Persona stuff, among other lesser known productions, there's *three* Total War games coming, one set in the Warhammer universe, they're cooperating with Gamefreak on Tembo the Badass Elephant, they're making a next gen Sonic game and while doing all this they still have time to release 3D Classics and smartphone games. Oh golly, truly they are in deep trouble right now.
