I have a few EZ Flash 4 Micro SD version carts (new, black version) and I have some of the prior version (white/clear case). When I swap the SD card between the two some games don't load the sav files. Does anyone know if there is a converter for this or am I not doing it right..?

Also, the black cart is on kernel 1.76 and the older one is on version 1.72. I'm not sure if the older one can be updated and I'm afraid to do it because I think I will lose saves.

update the old one... you are missing stuff...
but this problem is really weird, they are supposed to be exactly the same thing...
either way update them..
if you are scared of loosing the saves, make a backup on your pc, if you got problems you can use an emulator to convert them or use a tool..

Are you just moving the Micro SD between them, using an adapter for the older model? If so, make sure the adapter is in there good and tight, the contacts are clean, and that it's a higher quality adapter. I ended up soldering my adapter in due to it giving me save problems every once in a great while.
