According to this
"Working on a new emulator. Its another "impossible to emulate well on Wii" idea that's been beat. Putting everything else on hold for awhile" from http://twitter.com/OArikadoO

and to this "Well, shit, I got loose lips. This is what I'm working on emulating: http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=2s0mxyr&s=7 - Not gonna be released soon"

the project has started!Arikado, you are officially my most beloved coder out there!!!!!

(Have I said already how much enthousiastic I am about this? And of course I know that Arikado is attempting the impossible! That's why I am so excited!)

It's a port of nulldce.

When I said "not gonna be released soon" I really meant it. It's really going to be awhile (perhaps this coming August even). It's only at 12-15fps now in pure interpreter (we're going to make a dynarec core though after I get the emulation accuracy better and I do other things like a GUI -- the interpreter is really just temporary).

It should be noted that at this point I've only done about 1% of the work on it at this point (adding good controls and cleaning up emulation accuracy a little bit). The other 99% was done by drkIIRaziel over a year ago. He got busy with ports of nulldce to other platforms and I decided to pick up and work on the wii port about a week ago.

It's my main project right now. With the exception of DOP-Mii it's truly the only thing I'm putting real time into right now.

Oh, and before anyone says otherwise: Mathematically I've been shown that full speed emulation via a dynarec core is possible. In fact, there's even room to spare. drkIIRaziel really knows nulldce better than anyone else, so I trust him.

This is still a long way off though. A very long way.

I dont really have much hope for this considering the DS is less powerful than the Dreamcast and yet that runs very slow

I won't get my hopes up, but good luck with this.

I mean, the PS1 emulator isn't even near finished! What hope is there for a Dreamcast emulator?

it depends on if the wii has enough processing power to emulate the dreamcast.

really if the wii has troubles with a ps1 emu a dreamcast emu would result in something similar.

for now its probably impossible to emulate a dreamcast on a wii without crappy emulation making games imposable to play.

though someday in the future it may be possible.

EDIT: sorry i though this topic was about if a dreamcast emu on wii was possible ( i read the guy above's post)

Did you not read where he stated it is mathematically possible?

i edited my post saying i thought this thread was about if a dreamcast emu on the wii was possible cuz i accidentally read girugamarc's post and though he started the topic.

ignore my post it was a mistake.

Bladeforce:
I'm still saying that a full speed DS emulator on the Wii is going to happen. We've got a ton of homebrew and 2D games running at full speed. After Dancingninja finishes his GX 3D rendering engine (just talked to him about it yesterday -- he's putting a lot of time into it) 3D heavy games should finally run at speeds that aren't deathly slow.

And this is just with interpreter emulation (I was told by Wintermute, members of DeSmuME, and even Twiizers that the speeds we've accomplished via an interpreter shouldn't even be possible). Look at what happened to Wii64 and WiiSX when they switched from interpreter to dynarec emulation. We're planning on doing the same thing down the line. After Dancingninja is done with his stuff we'll finally give the emulator a proper GUI and then work on writing a dynarec.

This may take a while, but it's going to happen.

The Dreamcast might take even longer, but it's going to happen.

Enough talk. I'm off to work more on the Dreamcast emulator now ;P
