Always always download. You get to keep the file forever, in case it's a hard to find movie/show or gets taken down, and you can still watch if there's an internet outage/you go somewhere without a connection. If I like the content after watching it, I keep it, if I didn't, then I just delete it. I've got about 4TB free these days, so I love being able to just set everything to download.

Downloading, better long term thing when wanting to make GIFs from shows and going back to stuff just for whatever reason. I'd be using Netflix a lot more if they had a download feature, for instance.

I download anything and everything. I despise streaming because buffering is inevitable and then there are usually dozens of adverts some of which are just filthy. Oh and some sites only offer the download option so yeah....

But i do delete all anime, tv shows or movies that i download after i am done with them. So i guess i do have some morals or even guilt maybe? when it comes to downloading.

how is that a sign of moral or guilt when you're doing that AFTER you consumed it?

Download. I usually get me a whole bunch at the same time (like a whole season of a series) and later decide what I'm in the mood for. With streaming, I too get the idea that I HAVE to watch it before it's gone.

I don't download mostly since everything is a torrent and with my luck, no one seeds the content i want to download, so i end up waiting 150 years for my one episode to download....

I stream most of my content these days albeight via legit streaming services. I have some content locally (DVD rips and anything out of print) which I do stream via Plex.

I have stuff downloaded as far back as July 2015. Actually no, 2014 even because when I transitioned from a secondhand PC to a custom built one in August 2015, I moved files from that little 50GB HDD to one of my externals. Most of them, if not all, were porn. Yeah, porn and movies stay the longest. I'm a hoarder when it comes to movies, porn or otherwise. Shows, Fresh Prince, have had downloaded since late 2015, Dragon Ball Z Kai, around that same time, added the final chapters too of course. Super, started last year, so that's quite a while. I recently added the ongoing Pokemon Sun/Moon anime, Twin Peaks 2017, but also have the original Twin Peaks series, downloaded in, oh shit, early 2015 now that I remember. I have Sarah Connor Chronicles, but have yet to see it, sitting there for almost 2 years. Similar with an ecchi series, that I've had for almost 2 years. Manyuu Hikenchou is the name, have thought about watching that today. Ash vs. Evil Dead, still need to finish season 1 and all of season 2. Panty and Stocking, only saw one episode, but have the series downloaded. One Punch Man, Space Dandy, the few anime I've seen...from last year. So yeah, not being a TV guy, I have some shows, but a shit ton of movies.

I always download them. I have enough storage and I can put them on random flash drives so I can take it with me

I downloaded everything at best quality
And store it

When i don't have storage anymore i just buy a new internal hard-drive, never removed to have more space

I'm literally a living archive xD

Idk if this thread is allowed in gbatemp :ha:, but would like to know opinions about: do you download series/films or watch them online? Give reasons please.
Also, if you download, after watching it you save that lovely chapter/film or you delete it?

i.e.: watching them online is easy, you just google it and watch it; but if you download them, you can watch it wherever you want but it can get lots of storage if you save several files...
I tend to download all of my media to a remote server with usenet, and just upgrade its hard drive every few months since Im a data hoarder. I have about 2.5TB worth of movies and shows rn

I find it much more convienant than streaming online either legally(like Hulu) or illegally(putlocker) as I tend to get the shows hours/days before sites such as hulu will receive it, as well as always having what I want within one app across multiple devices, rather than using multiple different services for all your different shows

I prefer to stream, because of my fiber.. But hey, if I need to download, plenty of space.

download them and put them on my Plex home server.
Then I can:
- watch from anywhere/stream
- play multiple concurrent streams (people watching different things at the same time, or even the same show but different times)
- keeps my current place in season and in the episode so I can jump right back in

It auto-downloads the series I'm following, then I wait for subtitles release, as not everybody can find/watch english only movies (though, I pick english sub most of the time, due to poor and badly translated french u__u)
then, I watch them when I have time, which can be years later. some series I have 6 seasons to catch up...

I prefer download and keep, as it often got DMCA'd within 24h so you have to get them quickly.
Unless it's Netflix, in which case I only stream what I can. France has a very strict broadcast exclusivity rules, netflix only get shows 2 years later, even for netflix's own shows :(
you could watch netflix's show for free on French tv before it even appear on netflix itself... go figure!
hopefully sometime we still get worldwide release, like Sense8, or all Marvels. speaking of which, Marvel's defender is next week! I'll stream it.
