Homebrew Does a homebrew app to edit DSiWare saves exist?

I'm wondering if it does, because that would make things so much simpler for me.

Edit 1: Would like for someone to notify if someone has decrypted the dsiware apps when they are passed to the SD card

Edit 2: Checked and the DSiWare save editor is not gonna happen...
Welp, I'ma wait for the Arm11 Kernel Exploit then.

Wow thanks for the quick answers, I thought I would just get an answer tomorrow.

If it really requires an arm9 exploit then I'm sorry for bothering, but if someone has a more in depth explanation, please do tell.

DsiWare games are stored on the nand, and the only way to get almost full access to the nand is by using an arm9 kernel exploit, which would allow you to access DsiWare saves.

I think with GodMode9 you can access your TWLNAND and extract your DSi save to your sd card (you can hex edit with it, but it's kinda hard to edit with G9)
Edit: GodMode9 is a arm9 Homebrew, it will only work as a A9LH payload (and with a ver. 9.2 3DS, but I'm not sure about it)

Godmode9 (and ARM9 access/A9LH) is needed to access TWL NAND to extract and inject DSiWare Saves (in fact, this is how you copy the exploit save for Fieldrunners for the 11.0 downgrade method)

Ok I get the idea now, but, correct me if I'm wrong, has anyone ever thought of passing the dsiware game from the NAND to the SD card (it is possible without homebrew, I tested in the 3ds' own data settings app) and THEN modifying the save? Because I believe if you do that pretty much the whole game is passed through to the SD card.

(Edit) Then all you would have to do is pass it to the NAND again and, voilá, it's there.

The save does transfer, so it might be possible. The only problem is that it's encrypted, so it would be either really hard to decrypt, or impossible. I'm not sure if anyone has tried it yet, but seeing how obvious it is, someone probably has. It's also possible that someone has figured it out already and they plan on releasing it when Dsiware downgrading is patched out, but there's no way to know.

Rob the twl keys >:)
Try TWLNandFiler, you can find a cia on that iso site
If I could do that I wouldn't need it in the first place.

Well, that kinda defeats the purpose. I need to change the save data on the DSiWare app to be able to downgrade. If it's patched then it would be useless.

Not really. If someone has figured out how to decrypt a Dsiware game, they could be waiting until Dsiware downgrading is patched out before they release it. It would work for people that haven't updated yet, so I don't see why that would be useless. When Dsiware downgrading is patched out, it will be completely dead because you need to be on the latest firmware to system transfer, so releasing a method that would allow you to do it without doing a system transfer would keep Dsiware downgrading alive after it has been patched out. It's still probably not possible to do without a system transfer, so you would be better off waiting for an arm9 kernel exploit on 11.0.

I get what you're saying, but if that's the case I don't see why they don't just put it out now to help the ones who need it.

Yeah, I think it's the best to buy fieldrunners right now.
Never said not to do that, that game is kinda the point of this.

There's already a method that works fine now, so it would be better to release it once that method isn't possible anymore. It's still not likely that someone has done it though. It's probably more likely that someone found a way around the 11.0 firmware checks and has a way to soft downgrade on 11.0 using an arm11 kernel exploit, so if someone has done that, they're probably waiting for the next firmware update to release it because it would work on the latest firmware and 11.0. An 11.0 soft downgrade will happen eventually, but there's no way to know when, so you just have to be patient.

I get what you're thinking about, but I still don't agree people are doing these kinds of things and "hiding" them, since even now they would be useful for us. I don't get why they should wait for updates. But still, I guess I can wait. School started so I can't even spend much time gaming anyways.

BTW there isn't a kernel exploit for 11.0 yet.

@Maximumbeans, Indeed. I've been working on getting this Infecutus chip to work on my PS2. But after soldering, I realised that a plastic piece was missing from the power ribbon cable to the power and eject buttons.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
Now I could go with soldering the contacts from the cable to the connector on the mobo, but doesn't sound like a good permanent solution.

Man, that's beyond my brain  I'm no good with hardware for now. I'd like to get into hardmods in future though

@Maximumbeans, Maybe start practice soldering. Get a cheap-ass soldering iron and follow some good YouTube tutorials.

Least my experience has gotten better than over a decade ago. My iron would constantly bump into components and break them.

Sounds good. I actually did soldering but like 16 years ago for school so uuuuh probably rusty haha
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Maximumbeans, Same here. I did soldering at school from a teacher who I honestly liked since he had plenty of good electronics experience.
