Custom Channels and Banner-Database for Nintendo Gamecube
    [IMG]

    Hello GBATemp,
The main purpose of creating this thread is to have a complete database of Custom Channels and Banner files for all GC games.
The Channels will make it easier to launch Gamecube games directly from the System Menu (Doesn't require any USB or Disc loaders).
The BNR database will be available for users of loaders with Banner support when custom banner cache for Gamecube games is added.

    Dios-Mios / Dios-Mios-Lite:
DML/DM is the only prerequisite for the channels to work on the Wii.

New!! DiosMios is out: launching GC games directly from USB is a reality - Available for both Real and EmuNand (i.e. Neek)
Grab latest DM/DML v2.2 from official googlecode page here: http://code.google.c.../downloads/list

    DM Booter v30/ DML_Booter v1.01:
This Apploader was made by Fix94 and supports both old and new improved DML and for DM with USB support.

    Devolution:
This GC loader was made by Tueidj who added many cool features such as audio-streaming
Many features are yet to come especially Wiimote support for users with newer Wii

    Standalone DM/DML Booter channels
Lets you select the game to load and DM/DML settings to use & doesn't require any usb loader or 3rd party programs to load, just DM or DML and SD or USB with Games folder in DiscEx or GCReEx format:

    All Gamecube games forwarder channels:

The design was made simple somehow similar to the VC Channels made by Nintendo:
    * Alternating Game logo - NGC logo for the icons
    * A nice high quality wallpaper for the game
    * Official Nintendo GC sound
Rem: The channel base used is a legal one

Alphabetical Gamelist: Channels ID is U(ID3)
    WARNING! Spoilers inside!

Game IDs has the following format ABCXYZ where :
    ABC defines the game name,
    X is for game region (E, P, J, U...),
YZ are used for the publisher (01, 08 ...)
ID3 uses only first 3 letters hence is independent of region and publisher

I didn't test all the channels since I don't have 2 versions of same game if you find any problems please let me know and I'll try to fix it.

New: online GC banners download feature now available in USBL-GX rev1201: http://www.mediafire...xqm7m5duu9r5t22
For manual downloaders USBL-GX: extract bnr files into your Banner cache folder and you're ready to go. You need USBL-GX 3.0+ for this to work properly with sound support.
    USBL-GX v3.0 on googlecode: http://code.google.c.../downloads/list

For WiiFlow-Mod extract the bnr files into \WiiFlow\custom_banners folders
rev 547+ is recommended because it is very stable when it comes to loading banners
Get latest WiiFlow-Mod with banner support from here: http://code.google.c.../downloads/list
Both Dios-Mios and Devolution are now supported in Wiiflow starting rev579+

USBL-GX also supports ID6 for instance Animal crossing in ID3 "GAF" can be "GAFE01" in ID6,
When both ID6 and ID3 for same game are presents the ID6 is read and displayed.
Useful Tip: So if you can't see the correct banner most likely an ID6 file is present in the cache folder (delete it to let the ID3 banner display correctly)

For WiiFlow boith ID3 and ID6 are supported in custom_banners folder as well, however only ID6 works in banner_cache folder

Tutorial 1: Fixing aspect ratio from 4:3 to 16:9 and adding custom sound

The majority of banners backgrounds used in the channels have an aspect ratio close to 16:9 and will hopefully look great on both 4:3 and 16:9 displays, however few have a ratio closer to 4:3 and look somehow stretched on wider display. So, I also made an easy tutorial on how to fix the aspect ratio for those few channels check post 5
or check the original post in tutorials section: http://gbatemp.net/t...9-aspect-ratio/

Tutorial 2: Replacing the loader in old channels with the latest one

As I was working on this project, both DML and DML Booter had several major updates, for this reason some of the old channels made will not work with the new DML v1.4+ or DM (when it's officially out). So I made a second tutorial on how to update the apploader in post 6

Tutorial 3: How to run Quadforce or DML games from sneek2o nand

Crediar released Quadforce to run Triforce Mario Kart Arcade GP 1&2 games.
Quadforce installs into Mios slot replacing DML, so I made this tutorial to allow simultaneous running of Quadforce and DML with no need to replace the Mios, I also included 2 custom channels for Mario Kart GP 1 & 2 with Triforce roms setup guide in post 8

Tutorial 4: Using Wiiflow FanArt Creator v2.0

The Fanart is a feature that can be used to add animated backgrounds in the Gameview instead of behind the game boxcover.
In the New WiiFlow-Mod with banner support a FanArt will appear as an animated background when a game is selected along with the tiny banner (on top right corner) - However in game settings windows the banner will show instead of the fanart. Full tutorial in Post 10

Tutorial 5: Wiiflow: From FanArt to Custom Banners

    Full details in Post 12

Tutorial 6: How to grab an audio track from youtube and add it to a Channel/Banner

Tutorial 7: Switching banners, icons or sound among channels using Showmiiwads

Tutorial 8: From bnr to wad (Editing bnr files with customiizemii)

Banner Player: preview bnr files application for PC/Windows
    All details in Post 15

    ********************************************************************************************
I Hope that the other USB loaders will start working on banner support too since everybody is lovin'it :)
    ********************************************************************************************
All games were added in both Channel & Banner forms,
If you find any missing game (unlikely) please let me know
    :)

Tutorial 1: Fixing aspect ratio from 4:3 to 16:9 and adding custom sound tutorial:

    You'll need:
    * CustomiizeMii 3.11: http://wiibrew.org/wiki/CustomizeMii
    * A paint tool - I use Paint Shop or Corel Photo Paint but any tool with layers support can do the job.
    * A wave editor for adding custom sounds
    * Common sense and a minute

    To fix the aspect ratio:

Step 1: Open the source wad and extract the banner background
Open Customiizemii and click browse to chose th source wad
    [IMG]
    Select your file
    [IMG]
Go to Banner tab and chose MenuScreen1.tpl
    [IMG]
Hit Preview to check how it looks in 16:9 view, if you see that it's a bit stretched close preview and hit extract t save the png file
    [IMG]

The image proportion should be 800x450 pixels to show correctly on 16:9 display
The extraced PNG has the same ratio, it's actually 590x332 pixels

When the image is stretched you can do the following:
    1. Open the png in your photo editor and select the image
    2. Chose your background color to match the image's borders and resize the image keeping it centered
    [IMG]

Now when you feel the proportions are right, center your image again
Create a new object and send it to back
Fill this new back object with your background color (black in this case)
Now add some feather effect (1-20) to the edges o your image if needed
    [IMG]
    Save your file.

Replace the background in customiizemii by clicking replace button
    [IMG]

    And create your new wad.

Other methods include trimming the original image to the right proportion (not aplicable every time) or pasting the image inside a 16:9 frame.
You can also fill the empty are with special effects or textures or gradients...
After all you can do whatever you want as long as the final image has a decent look.
You might need to place the Wii/GC on the picture in case you trimmed it

Here are 2 versions of the logo you might need to invert the colors depending on the background colors:
    WARNING! Spoilers inside!

For GX banners extract the new wad to a folder with any tool that can do the job (I use showmiiwads for this)
rename 0000000000.app file to id3.bnr depending the game's ID and copy the bnr file to the banner cache folder

    To add custom sound:
Prepare the sound track you want to use and convert it to "wav" format (not all wav formats work so make sure it is Windows PCM wave)
Open customize mii > options > New Sound > Load Audio File
    [IMG]
Select your file and create your new wad channel :)

To make sure you have the right wav format you can also do the following:
Open any Channel wad with working sound in customize mii
Then go to options > Extract > Sound > As AudioFile
Save sound.wav (should have the right format)
Edit this wav file in a wave editor then save it (not save as to keep the same format)
replace your GC channel sound with the new file as described above.

    Hope this was useful
    Thank you

Tutorial 2: Replacing the loader in old channels with the latest one to make them work again

    Stuff needed:
    *DevKit Pro + Programmer's Notepad
    * Customiize Mii

Step 1: This takes time to finish but once done properly will allow you to compile your dols yourself

    1. Download and Install DEVKIT-PRO
    WARNING! Spoilers inside!

    2. Make sure you include Programmers Notepad and Libogc files in your setup (If you use the default settings you'll be ok)
    3. Install an SVN tool such as SlikSVN (Download page: http://www.sliksvn.com/en/download
    4. Get the latest DM-Booter from GoogleCode using this command (You might need to restart your computer after installing DevKitPro and SlikSVN for this to work)
Open command prompt in a target folder use either the "cmd" command or make a batch file (I made one for you :): http://www.mediafire...xhh6l1hzrc1gomc )
    5. Run this batch file in any folder and you'll get this:
A folder will be created containing the source files:

Open this folder and then open the project file "DML_booter.pnproj" in the Programmer's Notepad:

Uncomment "define AUTOBOOT' i.e. delete the "//" (highlighted in the screenshot)

Replace Autoboot_Game_ID with the ID6 of the game you are updating - it's the same as the game's folder name in "Games" folder if you use this folder for the Gamecubes:
Alternatively you can get the ID6 from here (in case you have too many folders and don't know which ID is for which game): http://www.mediafire...6i7gt7ppdx1bjua

Make your dol by pressing "ALT+1"; and you'll see this (hopefully if your setup is ok - keep your fingers crossed):

Now that you have your new boot.dol open customiizemii, open your GC game channel and go to options:
New Dol > Load dol file and select the boot.dol you compiled earlier
    [IMG]

Make your channel and install it using a wad manager
    Enjoy the game

You might encounter problems making the dol if your devkitpro or libogc setup is not right so you'll need to update one or both until you get a successful compilation

Triforce arcade games Mario Kart GP and GP 2 Channels
(require Quadforce v0.1) and Games in DiscEx format on SD card

1.Get the games roms can be in different formats such as bin or iso...
2.Convert/install with discex by dragging the rom files on discex being sure to rename the first folder to GGPE01 before converting the second (both are created as relsab) and renaming that to GGPE02 afterwards
    move both folders to sd:\games
You should have the following file structure on SD (example for Mario Kart GP 1 - for GP2 you should have GGPE02 folder:
    3. Use Wii iso renamer program or any tool such as hexeditor that does a similar job to rename the iso ID inside each folder to GGPE01 / Mario Kart Arcade GP and GGPE02 / Mario Kart Arcade GP 2
So to make sure your Game ISOs or Bin have the correct ID use a Hex Editor to check or change the ID6:
It should look like this for GP1:

    4. Use wad manager to install quadforce 0.1 and the two channel wads
    5. Then just launch your choice of game on the system menu

Tutorial 3a: How to run Quadforce or DML games from real nand & sneek2o nand

    * Both DML and Quadforce install into the Mios slot slot we cannot run both at same time on real Nand
    * I made this tutorial because I didn't want to replace my Mios each time I want to play Mario Kart GP games.
    * The best setup here is to install DML1.4b+ on real nand and to install quadforce0.1 (000000008.app) to sneek2o nand this way you can run both simultaneously without reinstalling the Mios wad.
    Sneek2o Setup:
    1. Use ModMii to create a Sneek nand (not all rev work so make sure you select rev80 sneek without the +DI)
    2. Copy the modified 00000008.app file from quadforce.rar to SD\nands\pl_eu\title\00000001\00000100\content folder ( if this folder is not there use showmiiwads to install a clean BC6.wad to create the folder) replace the old smaller file when prompted.
    3. install one of my DM-Booter channels rev22 to the sneek2o nand (not the forwarder channel)
You can also install the Mario Kart GP 1 and 2 channels but they won't autoboot.
    4. copy Mario kart gp games in discex format to both SD\Games and USB\Games folders after setting up & fixing the ID as explained above.
    5. Run your sneek2o via channel or bootmii-ios and start either the DM-Booter or the Mario GP channel
    6. You'll get the DM-Booter interface with empty list
    7. Change the device to USB (press +) if you get empty list you probably have wrong sneek version or sneek+di so make sure to follow setup step 1.
You might akso need to reset the HDD before changing the device to USB (thanks guinness for this tip)
    8. Select the Mario Kart Game: at the end of the list - the display name might be: "Sample Game Name (ISO)"
    9. Play with gamecube controller, No Disc is required

You can use the same steps to run DML games too by copying 00000008.app from dml google code

    RealNand Setup:
    1. install quadforce wad using wad manager as RealNand Mios
    2. make sure BC v6 is installed too
    3. use above guide to setup the games isos in discex format
    4. check that you have the games on SD with correct format and ID as mentioned above
    5. Run the games using the forwarder channels, DM-Booter or any USB loader with GC support

    Future bug fixes:
    A. Allow the games to run without having them on both SD and USB
    B. Make the games appear in DM-Booter SD list (I donno if the problem is related to DM-Booter or to sneek2o or both)
    C. when A &/or B are fixed autoboot channels should work fine from sneek2o

Hot Tip (thanks overjoy): To save some space you can delete the ISO file from USB:/Games/GameID/ folder and jut keep the USB:/Games/GameID/sys folder containing the boot.bin file

Troubleshooting: One of the main reasons the games won't launch correctly is an incompatible SD card so if something is wrong make sure:
    1. To format the SD card into Fat32 32k cluster size
    2. Try another SD card with different brand +/- class
    3. Double check to see if you did something wrong

Tutorial 3b: How to run Quadforce games from sneek2o nand using PostLoader 4

    1. Prepare your nand using modmii, use the following "Sneek with or without DI" rev 88
    2. have latest Postloader 4.0.x (I tested using 4.0.6 and 4.0.8) in sd apps folder
    3. Mario Kart GP games in "Games" folder on SD only (no need for USB here but you can have it on USB too)
    4. install Postloader v5 channel on your nand
    5. no need for priiloader
    6. copy 0000008.app file to "nands\pl_eu\title\00000001\00000100\content" folder replace original file (BC v6 has to be installed first if folder is absent)
    7. launch the nand via bootmii IOS or neek2o channel > then PL4 via channel > GameCube mode (press UP once or twice) in settings use DML v1.x
    8. launch GP game (Sample game name)
    Voila!

Edit: the beauty of this method is that it will work with future rev of neek2o
Only drawback is that there's no icon/banners and that the game name is weird
both Wiiflow and USBL-GX refuse to load from sneek2o so PL is the only option here (beside DM-Booter trick I posted earlier)
You can further make the PL channel autoboot and save settings on SD so that when you use this nand you're only 1 click away from your GP game.

Tutorial 3c: How to run Quadforce games from sneek2o nand using the DI menu

1.Setup the games as before make sure you have the games in games folder on both USB and SD (though you can delete game.iso from usb to save disk space the "sys" folder is what matters here)
2a.Install Sneek2o rev 82+ (I tested using rev 84 but any will do the trick) using Modmii and copy "Sneek" folder to your SD card root
2b.copy 0000008.app file to "nands\pl_eu\title\00000001\00000100\content" folder replace original file (BC v6 has to be installed first if folder is absent)
or rename this file to "quadforce.bin" and copy it to \SD\Sneek folder
3.Launch sneek2o via bootmii ios or neek2o channel and press "1" after the system menu appears
4.Press + to see the list of games you have (you might need to recreate cache for that press + again to show more options)
5.the Mario GP games will appear as "sample game name" unless you use custom titles
(to do so add the following entries to titles.txt and copy it to SD\Sneek folder:
    GGPE01 = Mario Kart GP
    GGPE02 = Mario Kart GP 2
you can get titles.txt from any backup loader or manager)
6.After selecting the game launch it from the disc channel

Tutorial 3d: How to run Quadforce games from uneek2o nand

1.Setup the games as before make sure you have the games in games folder on SD
2a.Install Uneek2o rev 82+ using Modmii (Uneek or Uneek + DI)
2b.copy 0000008.app file to "nands\pl_eu\title\00000001\00000100\content" folder replace original file (BC v6 has to be installed first if folder is absent)
also make a copy of this 00000008.app file and rename it to "quadforce.bin" and copy it to "USB:\Sneek" folder
3.install mario kart GP channels on your Uneek nand
4.Launch Uneek and run the channel

    Thank You

Tutorial 4 - Using Wiiflow FanArt Creator v2.0
The Fanart is a feature that can be used to add animated backgrounds in the Gameview instead of behind the game boxcover.
In the New WiiFlow-Mod with banner support a FanArt will appear as an animated background when a game is selected along with the tiny banner (on top right corner) - However in game settings windows the banner will show instead of the fanart.

So we have the luxury of having both Banner and FanArt at the same time.

Fanart should be placed in wiiflow\fanart folder in root of your SD card or USB device.

To make one you can use this handy tool: WiiFlow FanArt Creator v2.0 by mrimmenator & r-win http://www.mediafire...7dyf8cjxc79238x
Or use the FanArt downloader java utility to download pre-made ones using your SD or USB WiiFlow folder to detect the games you have. Download FanArt Downloader v0.8 from here: http://www.mediafire...sszifrh7mbyqoxz

Requirement: Dot Net v2 for the FanArt Creator and latest Java for the Downloader utility.

    Making FanArt:

    1. Open the FanArt Creator:

    2. Fill in the blanks with your stuff as such:

Field 1: Game ID - Both ID3 and ID6 can be used however ID3 is recommended because it's more universal
Field 2: Text color in Hex format
    Field 3: The fanart background
Field 4: Custom image in this case it's the game logo

You can add up to 6 images
Below field 4 you can add effects such as zoom, alpha and delay - really easy and fun to experiment with
Just hit the "Preview" button to see if you're good with the result
Save your ini file using the ID3
Lastly place the png files and ini file in "ID3" folder and copy this folder to WiiFlow/FanArt folder

You can use FanArt downloader to get FanArts online for your games using your own SD/USB-HDD with WiiFlow Mod/Adv or Plus version.
You can easily edit existing Fanarts with the FanArt creator by opening the ID3.ini file

    Enjoy your custom FanArt :)

This is what gx does also.
It extracts it's bnr from it's savegame icon, I think.

    https://www.dropbox....Hielke?h=2bb53c

    No need to install any.wad

But this is still a great option, considering you won't need any loader.

Tutorial 5 - Wiiflow: From FanArt to Custom Banners

If you already have a FanArt and you want to convert it to custom banner do the following:
A typical FanArt folder has a game logo, a background (with and without logo) and an ini file
Aspect ratio might be 4:3 (640x480 pixels)

If you want to use my wads as template:
    1. Replace Banner/MenuScreen1.tpl with your backgound+logo
    2. Replace Icon/IconImage.tpl with the game logo
    3. Replace LogoChan.tpl (NGC logo) with the Wii logo (for Wii games): here's one custom made:

    4. make the wad and extract the banner (showmiiwads extract to folder and rename 00000000.app to id3.bnr)
    5. place the banner in wiiflow\custom_banners folder
    Done

P.S. You might need to adjust the background to 16:9 ratio by cropping (you can read my first tutorial if u wish) in case you use a widescreen HDTV
You will also need to replace the sound or just make it silent

    :)

Tutorial 6: How to grab an audio track from youtube and add it to a Channel/Banner

    You will need:
    1. Freecoder5 toolbar for firefox/IE or any similar tool
    2. A wave editor (I use Abode Audition but any other tool can do the trick as well)
    3. Ability to view Youtube (No firewalls or restrictions)
    4. Customiize Mii & ShowMiiWads

    Let's start:
    1. Install Freecoder 5 get it from here: http://applian.com/freecorder5/
    2. Open Firefox/IE to complete installation you should have a toolbar like this:[IMG]
    3. search youtube for the game you want ex: "animal crossing title music or soudtrack or theme song or OST"
    4. Press record audio tool button (the one with music note - encircled above) you'll get an mp3
    5. Open the Wave editor and trim/edit/add fade in-out whatever works, try keeping the file below 20 secs
    6. Save as PCM Wav - convert to mono and lower bit rate to make the file smaller
    7. Add the sound to the custom channel with customiizemii and extract the banner with showmiiwads as explained in tutorial 1
To compress the sound file open the channel in customiizemii > options > new sound > browse > convert to bns > select the wav sound (add loop function if needed) then create the wad (thanks Fix94 for the tip & megazig for the bns converter)
This is the fastest way I could find please feel free to add your tips :)

Tutorial 7: Switching banners, icons or sound among channels using Showmiiwads

    1.extract my wad to folder
    2.unpack 00000000.app using "extract u8 archive"
    3.you'll find a folder called "meta" and inside icon.bin banner.bin and sound.bin
    4.do same with your wad
5.copy your banner.bin to my "meta" folder/replace existing one
    6. pack the 00000000.app file again using imet header no compression, name the channel replace existing one
    7. rename new 0000000.app to id3.bnr for loaders
    8. pack the new wad (don't forget to delete the extracted folders first)
    Done

This tutorial can also be used to change icon and sound.
Looks comprehensive but I might add few screenshots later for illustration purposes
    Hope this was helpful
Tutorial 8: From bnr to wad (Editing bnr files with customiizemii)

Get any wad from here ad extract it with showmiiwads "to a folder"
then rename your bnr file to 00000000.app replacing the existing file in that extracted folder
    repack your wad with showmiiwads
    then use customiizemii to edit
when you're done extract the finished wad with showmiiwads and rename 00000000.app to id3 or id6.bnr

    Abz :)

The best way to preview ".bnr" files using Windows is via "Banner Player" which has both Video & Audio support

This is the latest DML version available DML59mod.rar (http://www.mediafire...qk17b9hubiki4v7)
Extract and run "create_wad.bat" to get the latest DMLr59mod[MIOS-v10].wad

PS: you can still use this pack for future releases as well by just replacing the file dml.elf and re-creating the wad

Thanks Damysteryman for the modified elf
Thanks Fix94 for making this tool

DML Gamecube Loader Channel updated to version 8
