Convert any mp3 into an 8-bit music

Requirements:
1 A pc with Windows installed
2 This http://www.widisoft.com/english/widi-audio-to-midi-vst.html and this http://www.geocities.co.jp/SiliconValley-SanJose/8700/P/GXSCCB236/indexE.htm.
The first is a trial, google to have the full version :) .
3 An mp3 music file

1 Open Widi
2 In the wizard press next
3 Select an mp3 and press next
4 Push next
5 Push next another time
6 Push finish
7 Go to File
8 Select Save as MIDI...
9 Close widi

Now you have the midi file of the original music.

1 Open GXSCC
2 Push OK
3 Drag and drop the midi file on the window
4 Push Authoring

The program will created a .WAV music file with 8-bit music.

sweet!

only problem is that most modern songs don't sound good in 8 bit just because of how it is. anyway it seems great now ill have to find some good songs to 8bitize (new word)

Or you could just import music into melodyne, abletons built in midi to mp3 converter or wavetunes which is generally better sounding at quality than the now obsolete WIDI (okay, whatever I still use it too personally) and open it in GXSCC, just a suggestion.

Bad idea, VSTs are meant for instruments. You put a full song into a basic Audio-to-MIDI plugin it's going to sound awful.

If you want 8 bit music, go use Famitracker.

Is the quality of sound lost in this process? 8-bit sound must be like the N=old NES type game sounds :D

Well, actually sound quality turns out to be pretty good, maybe melody accuracy will be fair/poor, 'cause it's auto midi recognition. Obviously, if you create your own midi from scratch, it will sound good! ^-^
