My Wii U will not control my scientific atlanta cable box, on any of its 16 channels lol? Is there anyone who has got it to work with another brand?

Are you sure it's set to IR and not RF?

http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/systems/wiiu/en_na/features_tv_remote.jsp lets you search for your make/model for both TVs and cable/satellite boxes. It'll tell you which input number is most likely the one that matches your box, if there is one at all.
