Hacking Comparing: Gateway VS R4i Gold 3DS Deluxe

i have multiple consoles
one that had all the Gateway Files
one that had all the R4i Gold 3DS Deluxe ones

swapped them after the R4i Gold 3DS Deluxe didnt work on one
and the Gateway Worked on the other with the Gateway Files
but the one the Gateway was working on didnt work with the R4i Gold 3DS Deluxe

I mean go into ds mode with r4 cart and use their installer for the exploit. You probably did, just making sure.

Have you tried the firmware on the 3dslink page? They should be the same thing, but who knows.

They are exactly the same file, their md5 matches.

yes i installed both from fresh
using only the teams official files they posted

heres pics of the consoles
Black is the Gateway Console, Red is the R4i Gold 3DS Deluxe

but i switched the SD card and rebooted the Launcher.dat after and the Gateway worked on the Red and the R4i Gold Deluxe didnt work on the Black
hoping they can send me another card of which works,

still no luck
guess either a Dud cart or just doesnt work

Devin should be getting his card soon also so hopefully he gets a working one

Pong, you'd better try downloading files from www.r4ids.cn once again.
Just be sure that you have got the latest file.
I have checked the date of wood r4 v1.64, which is completed at 5 november ,2013.

yes i tried both

the DS installion and Launcher.dat works fine
i was speaking to the team
the newer Wood 1.64 was just to try and fix a bugg so that Wood 1.64 works on Rev 8 card
it saddly still does not

Well im not surprised really. Clones will be clones so higher chance of getting a dud.

On another note, Pong20302000, did you try cutting a wire inside?

10 ~ 20 $ more cheap than gateway well it will increase 10 ~ 20 % to get bad product rate too.

Clone is bad, not surprised in the slightest. Although it's a bit inconclusive at this point, as I would have gotten a replacement beforehand...

uhm you probably tried that already... but my gateway didnt work until I reinserted the micro sd card multiple times... someone said something about maybe dust or rust on the contacts and reinserting the micro sd card would fix that... and it did
maybe its the same for the clone? XD

10 different MicroSD's
different consoles
both 1.0 & 2.0 files

pretty sure the cart is just a bad one

you dont cut cables in the new one
was only the Rev C DS flashcards that needed it

and the DS Cart works fine and installed well and boots into the Launcher.dat fine
its purely the 3DS card reading

you didnt mention it in your review ,and nobody knew gateway had one till later after its release and the release of the test mode fw

the hardware is not a clone, its very different

yea i know thats what i thought but it was a small pic and doesnt show the other side of the board, but you did say that all components are one side, but just wanted to confirm for everyone there was no LED on the underside of the board

so this confrims that it is not an EXACT clone ,no LED ,different board layout

boring yes, but it is kinda odd there are those extra half of a pin set that will go unused on the back side of the card

what are the extra pins for i wonder? are they for some kind or special reader/programmer used by R4 to write something to the card

gateway red does not have those extra pins on the back side, and in the pic i can see traces connected to them so they most likely serve some purpose
