There is no relation at all. The developers of flames of eternity took the years of work by my team at Crimson Echoes, changed ~2% of the game and released it as their own product. It's incredibly rude and dishonest. I recognize the hypocrisy of my statement being that I took Chrono Trigger modified it and released it as Crimson Echoes but I released a completely different story and did my best to convey my respect to the original creators (special scene at beginning of Crimson Echoes game).
One of the biggest accomplishments of FoE that i respected was the insertion of human glenn. But then I played the game and realized that had been stolen as well. The CE team had been working on a Human Glenn patch. While it wasn't going to be released with Crimson Echoes it was planned as a seperated release that could be used within the romhacking community. It was ~50% done but definitely had alot of work until it was finished. One aspect i definitely remembered was that when glenn ran to the right his arm right arm went forward ~3-4 pixels too far. When I loaded FoE and got Glenn and ran to the right it was the EXACT same mistake >:-(. FoE somehow got a copy of my patch, finished it and placed it in their game w/o releasing a patch for anyone else.
I apologize if I'm coming off as bitter in this post but it angers me to see my work released under a different name. Crimson Echoes was the culmination of years of work by a large team. It being released under a different name diminishes the accomplishment. I realize it is just a game and should not be taken too seriously, if FoE is indeed the better game than by all means feel free to play it but I feel like the entire story should be known.
If you doubt my identity feel free to PM CEMemorial (pretty legit source of crimson echoes information) and I'll personally reply to you.

I don't question your desire to explain that FoE is just sort of a continuation of CE's work and understand you want to be respected for what you've done.
I do think you need to realize that what's being done is to round out, finish, complete, expand, update the work and that isn't a bad thing. Also what were they going to do, keep calling it CE even though it's being worked on by different people and risk a lawsuit to themselves or your camp? That wouldn't have been good either.
I think most people are happy to give credit where credit is due on your end. Maybe you can do the same as well? Hopefully in the end FoE WILL be a better game, a more full and rich gaming experience with a better feeling of being a true sequel to Chrono Trigger in which we can all be happy to have had our input and assistance in creating, however large (on your and Giro's parts) or small (in my case) that might be. Something that can be played, enjoyed and cherished by everyone who loved Chrono Trigger regardless of petty, superfluous arguments as to how it came about. FoE is moving in the right direction and in the end I'm sure will be the decisively ultimate incarnation. So enjoy it when it's done for what it's worth and be happy for your part in creating it.
Beecause reelly theere's no reeson to be so peessid off, reet Eegent Eeghty Tweelveety Seeks?
P.S.: Honestly what were you guys thinking? No one respects when Stephen King wrote himself into the Dark Tower either... It's detracting from the game so you can stroke your own egos. Wide-open to being harpooned and you have no one else to blame but yourself.
QUOTE(Wombo Combo @ Feb 14 2011, 07:17 AM) So does this just patch the original game to add a new story?
