I know, I know. Nintendo even provides these instructions:

http://en-americas-support.nintendo...63/~/how-to-determine-the-system-menu-version

From the HOME Menu, select “System Settings.”
Scroll down the menu on the left-hand side and select “System.”
The current system menu version will be displayed under “System Update.”

But they're not accurate. On my daughter's Switch, which has apparently downloaded an update but not yet installed it, the firmware version is NOT listed below "System Update." Instead, it says, "Update Ready to Install," or something like that.

Is there any other way to check the firmware on her Switch??

I think you can just fully power down the console and that should delete the update that was stored.

Or boot into recovery mode (hold power & vol+ & vol- when turning on), and I think it can be deleted that way.

Then the FW will display in system settings.

Thank you, I'll give those a try.

edit: the restart into recovery mode did it. She's already updated to 3.0.1, oh well.
