Can't get VBA-M cheats to work. Ever!

Hey. Maybe someone here can help me walk me through this. I tried several things to get my cheats to work. They just don't work. I pressed the game shark button. I switched from normal gameboy emulation to super gameboy emulation. I also tried BGB. The cheats in BGB work there without any trouble. I'm using VBA-M 2.0.0beta2
