ok, heres what i would like,

Flash the firmware of a DSi, with DS lite firmware. so it will run my old DS flashcarts.

at the very least id like to Disable Internet so i dont Update.

i saw a guy running PHAT firmware on a DS Lite on youtube, but it resets after shutoff.

You can't downgrade a DSi at all or replace it's firmware. Once it's updated, it's updated.
Go to the settings, to the wifi settings, and delete all the profiles.

And that's not possible because they devices are more different. Think of it like an organ transplant between human twins versus an organ transplant between two different species of dog. The human twins have a fuckton in common. the two dog breeds have a lot more different.

so theoretically, can it be done?

what about worst case senario, you hardwire to
the circuit board, and re-program the chip like that?

maybe one day a mod chip loaded with LITE FW
could bypass the firmware at startup

It's different hardware, no. You'd have to replace the chips and hardware used (such as the DSP and such), and at that point you'd pretty much be replacing the DSi's motherboard with the DS Lite's motherboard, in which case you should just buy a DS lite.

actually, DS LITE's have a Nasty manufacturers defect,
pressing buttons flex's the board, which cracks contacts over time,
then system will shut off when B button is pressed.
DS Lite is the biggest piece of garbage ever created.

hmmm... which brings me to my next question,
will the screen of a DSi XL connect to a DS PHAT Motherboard?

You could try. That would be the best solution to having a ds lite or phat with xl screens.
If you have the guts to give it a look, go for it. That could actually be a good solution for ppl with carts that don't like dsi(xl). Although the question of if all the ds phat guts will fit into the xl nicely is another thing.
Or u could save yourself the hassle and get a supercard dstwo and just play your xl. :P

well, thats another problem, im a CycloEvo man all the way.
i absolutly cannot stand Supercard anymore, the whole menu
system is so cluttered and unintuitive. YUK.
Acekard2i is just ok, but lack extra features like RTS/Slomo.

also, id like to have the DSiWare shop Deleted or Removed completly,
and to have the slot-1 cart boot automatically

So uh. Get a DS Lite.

i allready explained that,

DS LITE = total shit

DSi XL = blocks the good flashcarts

i wish i could have the Screen of a DSi XL with the build quality
of a DS PHAT and the Firmware of a DS LITE and a GBA Slot,
and zero cameras. it would be the greatest handheld ever.

--------------

but anyway, i was wondering if theres a way too automatically boot FIRMWARE.NDS

nah just curiosity i suppose. i was thinking someone could make a custom firmware
that ran on top of official firmware temporarily, much like the PSP3000 and GO CFW.
even if it had a long boot time, and had to repeat process on a restart.

it would be nice to have a simple no-nonsence operating system with just the
basic functions. at least it would: skip health and safety warning, auto boot the
DSi flashcart, and remove DSi Shop to prevent accidental update.

The PSP's CFW's are just modifications of OFW, adding new features.

The problem is you'd need to boot a flash cart to get to this "OS" anyways, which means that when you first turn the system on you could still update before you run the flash cart... and once the flash cart is running it already has it's own menu to select ROMs and junk, and you can already run homebrew.

If you don't like the updating, get a DS or DS Lite, period.
