Ok I have been looking around this forum and others for a while and am still confused. I just want to be able to burn 360 games to a regular duel layer dvd. I have seen a few tutorials for basic burning but they seem out of date. Can i not just verify the iso with abgx and burn the iso with imgburn at the lowest setting? What exactly is truncating and why would i need to do that if the iso i have fits fine on dl dvds? I really dont care about being banned btw as i will mostly just play single player games anyway. Is there some complete end all tutorial of burning games that is up to date? Thanks.

Download ABGX 1.0.6 and set it up.
Then patch your games (regardless of you not caring about being banned or not)
Then burn them on a Verbatim dual layer DVD at 2.4x speed.

Truncating is a method used to burn XGD3 games (8.5 GB) to a regular DVD.
Forza 4, Cod Blops 2 and Call of something (new game) have CIV checks which check for truncated burns.
You'll have to have an iHAS burner for those.

Pretty much every tutorial out there should suffice fine.
Outdated or not, it's always been the same really.
Just slect the .dvd file with IMG burn and burn it ;]

Best DVD's are Verbatim DVD+R DL.
Burn them on 2.4x speed and you should be good to go.

XGD3 games should be burned on a hacked iHAS.
If you truncate or overburn them you'll loose the ability to install them on HDD and some games contain CIV checks so if those fail, your 360 is flagged for a ban.

Games with CIV checks are Forza 4 (100% sure of it) and I think COD BO 2.

I hope to burn them using my laptop dvd writer, not really wanting to buy/hack an iHAS drive.

Is there a way for me to find out if a game is XDG3 or if they're lower?I'm guessing anything new out is going to be XDG3?

XGD2 can be burned with any burner but I still advice you to get an IHAS.
Then you're sure of a quality burn.

As for finding out.
Just run it through ABGX.
It'll tell you if it's XGD3 or not and it'll auto patch it.

I don't see why they can't go in an external casing.
As far as I know they can be used externally.

But yeah.
If you get an iHAS drive then you're assured of a good burn + you'll never have the problems of Disc Read Errors on half burned XGD3's or non booting discs which have CIV checks (trust me MS will release more and more XGD3 with CIV checks)

As long as it's a Verbatim then you're good on it.
However I'd just go for a normal DVD.

If you want to rewrite the old games with newer ones I'd recommend against it since it might corrupt.

Others will work as well but Verbatim discs are of an higher quality.
I recommend them to everyone cause their the most widely used.

Along with iHAS burners that only work with Verbatims (you can hack it and let it accept other DVD's but if you get bad burns then it's your fault)

Just as an update, there's a new program that is not a firmware and is compatible with more drives than BurnerMax firmware. Look up BurnerMAX Payload Tool.
