Hardware Battery Not Holding Charge

I have a PSP 3000 and I am noticing that the battery is not holding a charge. I usually have to fully charge it every time I want to play it. I had system since about 2008 or so and already replaced battery once. Is there anything I can do about this, is it the battery or system problem? Thoughts on this appreciated
