The Vita's wifi is always on unless you goto settings to turn it off so it is a fair test, apart from the PSP but I assume it would've still won since I tested it and I got 5 hours on lowest settings.

Ehh using 3D doesn't make it fair. They should all have wi-fi off. lowest brightness etc...
/facepalm

The whole point of the test was to see which console on max settings last the longest since its likely most people would leave it at max settings. If everything was on the lowest settings the result wouldn't differ much anyway and the winner would still be the PSP-3000 followed by the Vita and then the 3DS.

I wonder how a PSP 1000 would fair in this test in comparison since Vita, 3DS and PSP 1000 are all first gen. Hell, throw in a DS Phat for comparison too.
Just an assumption but I think it would be DS Phat, PSP-1000, Vita and 3DS all on max settings and so forth.

Nope it's still not fair. Uncharted automatically turns off Wi-Fi on the Vita since it doesn't use it.

Even then, I think it has Bluetooth enabled which evens it out.

Can we officially say the Vita has better battery life than the 3DS yet?

Or are people still sceptical enough to want more tests?

Isn't this the test where the PSP and Vita are running with ~2200mAh batteries, while the 3DS runs with its 1300mAh? Considering the PSP-3000 is not using the battery it comes with (which is 1200mAh), putting a ~2200mAh battery in the 3DS should have been done for a more even test.

Even if the Vita does have better battery life it's a shallow victory for this reason: when the Vita's battery reaches the end of it's total lifespan, the system has to be replaced.

I'm not trying to be an N fanboy -- I'm still going to buy one. The above fact just irks me.

Can't the Vita be opened up and get the battery changed that way?

One thing that just occurred to me.... The sound on the 2600 sucked less back then the harsh sound we hear now is from infinitely better speakers we have now, back when the 2600 was new speakers produced a almost muffled sound, like CRTs made old graphics look slightly better.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I wonder if I could recommend that to some emulation devs that perhaps the sound could use some smoothing out to simulate those old TVs
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think a few of the early systems could benefit from that, at least up to the 8 bit generation, by the 16 bit generation I think TVs had gotten a lot better in almost every way
