Flash your DS with FlashMe. Do it. Be careful when doing it but do it. And don't color your text in weird unreadable colors.

Sound advice right there

The sites to trust are the reputable ones that get mentioned alot as trustworthy. Read around the forums for a bit and you'll catch on.

And please PLEASE read up on the differences on flashing a DS Phat vs a DS Lite. VERY VERY important.

That involves flashing new firmware. Why not do a search and look for flashme installation documents....hell there's are tons of official guides that walks you step by step on this site. No it's not reversible on a ds lite.

It involves both. To install new firmware, you are required to short a certain part of the DS (at least for the first time).

Do you have a DS Phat or Lite? A Phat is easy to flash, almost impossible to go wrong unless you drop it or something. The Lite is a little trickier, but you should still be fine if you're a little careful, especially with FlashME's built in recovery.

In any case, a great guide for flashing it can be found right here. It includes a link to FlashMe as well as great tips.

Also, as far as I know, it is not yet possible to 'reverse' the flash. You cannot really reverse it , but if you have a DS Phat you can put back original Nintendo firmware. This original firmware will probably not be the same version as what you had, but it doesn't matter since the features are the same and your warranty should not be affected. However, as far as I know it is not yet possible to 'reverse' it on the DS Lite, since it requires the extra feature of adjusting the brightness. If I am wrong on any of the details, somebody else feel free to correct me.....

How about using a flash cart like the G6 Lite that uses a passcard 3...you don't have to flash your firmware at all, so bricking isn't even a question?

Noiw that you mention it...I guess maybe flashing could have one major drawback...wii support...IM sure the "WEE" will look for official firmware

The thing about custom firmware is that it is engineered to avoid such "checks". Perhaps this will not be possible, but the collective mind of the homebrew community is very powerful!
