Hacking Are there any UPNP / DLNA Media player Solutions......

Hi,

I am looking for a more elegant solution and wondering if any of you guys have used or know of a better way.

Currently i have a UPNP media server in my garage with my Music and Movies on it.

Now, to enjoy these on my PS Vita i have to remote play into a PS3 to then select Network Video and the play movie/music.

Is there a piece of software i can use than can sidestep the whole need for remote play to PS3?

The Vita in question is FW3.6 and the PS3 is 4.81OFW. I also have a PS4 but i cant get remote play to the PS4 to work right (too many updates nag screens)

At the moment, I don't know of any UPNP streaming homebrew for the Vita itself. Unfortunately, your only choices appear to be the way you're doing it now or simply transferring movies/music to your Vita via USB/Wifi and then deleting them afterwards.

Dang - i was hoping you would say "hey use this Amazing app"

However - i will give that ps4 remote another go, it might prove useful down the line.......

I even tried PMPlayer but no luck :/

Have you tried the vita Network Media Player app on psn.

I had no idea that existed, I guess cuz it's EU only lol.

But unless it can be downloaded to a PS3 to transfer over, it won't be much help. Can't get PSN access on 3.60

Network Media Player also available on Japan and HK psn and supposedly drm free so .vpk should work.

It can't be dumped by both maidump and VPK (which I found out when I was looking this up). You'd need either the PKG file (which I also can't find), or you'd have to transfer it over from a PS3 (or get the PKG file from there, whatevs).

Yes it uses psn authentication.

It might be bypassed by yifanlus psn bypasser though. I havent tried, just worth a try.

Cant install via package manager it must because it is a zeus link

Installed via PS3 - used yifans netcheck_bypass and.... It works! Perfect. Mega happy - also the lag from server - PS3 - Vita is no more, streams are nice and smooth , thanks for the pointers guys
