The "wow" factor was gone for me the moment I went hands-on with the system. I had been so psyched for the thing, especially after last year's E3, but once I looked upon it with my own eyes at Best Buy, I was like, "that's it?" The menu system, circle pad, features, and promise for the system are what ultimately sold me, though. Now, I rarely use the 3D. I'll usually try a game both with the 3D on and off, but generally, I find it difficult to play with it on. I really thought Nintendo had nailed it, and in some respects, they have. But in the majority of gaming situations, I find it to still be little more than a gimmick.
Have at least 3-4 games that the 3D improve on or at least used well. What games do you have?
Also how 'bout the OS features that have 3D like the videos?

You say you found it it difficult to play with it on, is that because you can't keep the 3DS still enough or it bother your eyes?

I like how it more like a window and how it make the games no longer flat.

Do you even like the 3D?

You know, not every person with a conflicting view has to be challenged.

What does my questions have to do with someone being challenged?

Do really want me to ask that question? Fine.

Your "wow" effect didn't last? Is it because you are challenged?

So far, I've played through OoT (twice), put in over 60 hours with SWC, about 12 with DoA, 16 with Ghost Recon, played Pilot Wings only briefly before sending it back to Gamefly, and I think I have about 40 hours in with Mercs 3D. I'd say Mercs 3D is the first 3DS game where I didn't even try to adjust to the 3D -- just turned it off after seeing what it was like real quick.

I can answer a couple of your other questions in one reply by saying I do dig some of the videos I've seen, and I do generally enjoy the 3D on the 3DS. Why I was less than impressed with it when I first went hands-on with it is because all it really was mostly was inward 3D. The hype Nintendo was selling played up outward 3D effects. That being said, I spent most of my time playing both OoT and SWC in 3D, and though I enjoyed the effect, I was also annoyed by the fact that any slight movement of the system causes the visuals to go out of focus.

And that is also the cause of my eye strain, always having to mold the way I play and view the system, rather than the system catering to me in that sense. I turn it on still for certain things, and I enjoy it when my eyes can handle the strain, but for high-action gameplay, the trade-off just isn't usually enough for me.

Of course, we're still just six months in barely with the machine, and I'm sure developers will find ways to fine tune the effect to be more stimulating and less of a strain. But this thread is about the system's "wow" factor, and we already saw inward 3D on DSi.

Since I got the Ocarina of Time I begin to play a bit more than 30 - 45 Min. at a stretch.
However, this made me realize that this "deep 3D" or "looking into another world" if you wanna call it this way, vanishes.
Thats happening for me after around 1 and a half hour.

Sure its still different than in 2D Mode, but its not a huge leap anymore, like on the beginning.
After making some hours break, the 3D Effekt is back in all its glory.

At all, every Picture, even if its flat, gets 3D in our mind, the 3DS or 3D glasses helps to make it feel more "real".

After how much time does this happen for you?
For me, when I got it, it was a "OH WOW!", but now it's a "Oh ----, I CAN'T GET THE RIGHT ANGLE!"

It's funny, I started OoT and thought the 3d effect was nice. However, by the time I finished the game, I didn't even notice a 3d effect while playing anymore, it just seemed like regular OoT, and the slider had remained at the highest setting the whole time.

Yeah 3D is nice but it leaves me trying to look for stuff to pop out of the screen, I play around 10% 3D only time I turn on 3D is seeing the boss intro's on Oot, It's nice in video mode for the preloaded videos but other then that still a little bland if you don't add your own. Anyway its all about the graphical difference for me, serves it's purpose and does what it say's on the tin.

I definitely enjoy the 3d in OoT. I won't play without it. I tried to but the graphics look soo flat and boring with it off. I got past the initial amazement factor probably about 15 hours into OoT. Only time it strains my eyes was when there was like 2 or 3 characters its trying to portray on the screen in the middle of a fight. Trying to see/interpret the depth of each character was rough with moving action.

I do agree with the inwardness of the 3D. You get the impression that Nintendo makes it like it jumps out at you but it does none of that. It just makes the image look deeper. I actually like the inward effect of its 3d setup.

I go back and forth with the 3D on OOT. I like the depth, but don't consider it a "wow" factor. I don't like the lack of anti-aliasing, and sometimes turn it off just to get rid of the jaggies. Maybe my eyes don't work right because Nintendo swears that the eyes adjust for this and do their own sort of blending effect, but for me there's a major difference on the edges of some things in the game with the 3D on vs 3D off. Sometimes I turn it off because my eyes are tired too, but not because I feel like I lose the 3D effect after a while.

I played the 3DS two times before its release.

First time I saw it... It was incredible. Couldn't believe it. Second time, it wasn't as awesome but still shocking. It kept decreasing every use for about a week, then stayed about the same until now.

So, short answer: A week.

I still get that "WOW Effect" when the two images have a huge gap between them, and it appears so far out of the screen, that it almost hurts your eyes.
