I'm currently conflicted between whether to get a flashcart or a Cartridge to USB adapter, so that I can edit my Pokemon save files.

For reference, I have a DSi with the latest FW version(1.4.5)

If I get a flashcart will I be able to:

Use AltWFC with my cartridge(not with a ROM)?

Backup my cartridge saves/ROMs?

Edit my cartridge saves?

I really just want to be able to trade with myself and/or Pokegen Pokemon into my game.

You can backup cart save data with DS homebrew which the r4i allows you to run. I think there's also homebrew that let's you run action replay codes with cartridges but I'm not entirely sure (I'm pretty sure there was though). As for everything else? I have no idea. When I wanted to edit DS saves I just backed them up to my PC and edited them there using a hex editor. I have no idea if there's a homebrew for that.

I also don't know how AltWFC works but more than likely the r4i will let you do virtually anything to not only roms but cartridges as well.
