1. Install WRONG CIA pack.
(e.g. Installing O3DS CIA pack on N3DS, installing USA CIA pack on JPN 3DS, etc.)

2. (For N3DS JPN users) Forget to delete 000400102002CA00.

3. Powering off or taking out SD card during the CIA installing progress.

4. Freezing on an incomplete CIA installing progress.

having a shitty/fake SD card i wouldn't be surprised if some of the "random" bricks stem from fake SD cards resulting in system titles being uninstalled only for FBI to fail installing the replacement file due to it being corrupt, best advice i can give is use the original 2/4GB SD that came with the console if your unsure of the authenticity of your bigger SD.....or check your SD with H2testw before running the downgrade process

I can be wrong, but I think with julian20's latest build, only the first one leads to a hardbrick.
And where we can find this build, if its right?

6.1 Inject FBI on sysNAND
6.2 Boot sysNAND with patches enabled
6.3 Ejecute FBI app and install some TWL app on the NAND
6.4 In the middle of the installation, press Home button

I haven't tried this as it is. I just tried it on the emuNAND while installing a game on the SD and the whole system goes nuts.

Congratulations on bringing a dead thread back to life for absolutely no reason.

I did the first one! Killed my O3DS...thankfully I had money saved up and bought a N3DS within the next week and did it correctly....(I needed to replace my O3DS anyway, the analog stick was messing up and I had issues with moving down in games like Zelda Triforce Hero's and throwing shells behind me in MK7)

#2 isn't necessary anymore, at least as long as you download from the common sources.

To #3 I'd add closing the lid or not paying attention to how much battery power you have.

Since I'd consider this thread revived at this point, may as well add pulling the battery/battery dying out mid downgrade to the list. This obviously could happen with official firmware updates as well...but for the sake of completeness...
