The team has pretty much crumbled, I have taken the leader spot and will try to keep the project alive.

I know it was a shitty idea to make people claim back their themes, the alternative would have been to make them all unclaimable and controlled by no-one.

Todo:
Listen to the users, get their input.
Fix the site up to a usable state.
Get moderators to moderate the themes.
Give themes unique urls.

Please leave suggestions.

Well, Prepare to have complaints coming up your ass about "My theme was stolen" Themes should be uploaded and linked with a mac address or something. So then if something like this happens again you can only re upload your theme if it has you mac address attached.

Edit: or ip

Even if unclaimed, having no title/description makes the themes not very useful. In that case it's probably best to take the site down for now and people can use the forum while it's sorted out?
If there's a site backup then maybe it can be put up as read only in the meantime. If there's no backup, it's probably better to start fresh when the site is in a good state than get people to look through 470 pages (The only ways to search I can think of are checksums or the link to the still working previews, neither of which are too convenient)

If you're really in need of new team members I'm alright at JavaScript/HTML/CSS, but I don't think that translates to the back end things involved?

Edit: or ip
Dynamic IPs are very common, so that's a bad and breaking idea. If the site is secure then a user account should be enough.

Don't listen to the users. Just get it to where you want it first, make sure it's stable, then open it up to the public. After that, if you want, then take feedback. Trying to keep the users happy while trying to get it back in a decent state will be an uphill battle. I think it would be better to just start fresh, let users reupload their own themes.

Either that or just move on. There are other ways for people to share their themes, maybe not as unified and convenient as the site, but it will take far too much work to maintain something like that with how little money a site like that would produce, without adding in more ads.

Should we remove all themes?
Should we leave all themes on a clone site for people to download, and open a new one?
I think that, first make a new page with the host and all these things, after You make port all themes from the old page to the new page and create a section where you put your signature for your own themes, so nobody can re upload on their behalf. And The censure, It can be a little less strict.

Starting fresh with a more secure system is definitely best.
Hosting the old site uploads on another page at least for awhile seems like a good way to restore them if absolutely needed but I think users can just start uploading again with the improved system.

While your at it though please consider CHMM audio file uploading and playback if easy enough, a notes.txt, theme feature list form so we can filter out themes that don't have music or only those with full features (animation, scrolling, lid open sounds etc), and of course tags for more filtering.
Animated previews would be nice too but might wanna wait till YATA+ implements that if they ever do, maybe lay some ground work for it if needed.
Just some things I was hoping to see eventually is all.

I believe that the old themes should be saved, and then rehost the themes on the new site, letting the actual submitters claim them (with proof, if any) and then the site could go on smoothly. Also, may someone tell me what happened? I don't know why the site was fucked or what happened..

Some arsehats took down the website. One of them was even gloating on the original thread that he took it down.

I wouldn't mind moderating the site. I have moderated sites in the past accepting images or declining them. So I have had some past experience.

I will say this again, I am more than happy to do anything on the coding side of things, whether as part of the team, or just a one off.
