Just get VirtualBox and throw a trimmed version of Windows XP on there. :D

It works fine. Are you sure you know how to handle apps without GUI? Use full path to files and .exe's and make sure there is no spaces along the way.

I'm adding 3DS support to my trimmer, new version 3.0 will be out very soon (sometime this week).

Not for VC games. They can be trimmed to approx 5mb but somehow saves won't work. If you can make it trimmed to about 10mb and have saves working that will be awesome

It's possible, it just involves more modification of the header than most games... I have one trimmed GBC rom that is like 7 MB's, and it loads and saves fine.

Card 2 games shold be trimmed differently. Somebody made a tool for that with src Super.Mario.Bros.Deluxe.EUR.VC.3DS.INTERNAL-BigBlueBox

Update:
Looks like the game will stuck during initializing save data the first time you run it after trimming (but the second time will load fine). Don't know what's the problem.
The tool is updated, now you need existing and valid save data to skip save initialization. You need to load the rom at least once before trimming. The tool will automatically scan for existing save data and transfer it to the new save offset before trimming.

Seems like quite a nuisance if you need to first load the untrimmed rom once.

That must be rough. Productive I'm sure but hard to balance with daily life

@Maximumbeans, Indeed. I've been working on getting this Infecutus chip to work on my PS2. But after soldering, I realised that a plastic piece was missing from the power ribbon cable to the power and eject buttons.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
Now I could go with soldering the contacts from the cable to the connector on the mobo, but doesn't sound like a good permanent solution.

Man, that's beyond my brain  I'm no good with hardware for now. I'd like to get into hardmods in future though

@Maximumbeans, Maybe start practice soldering. Get a cheap-ass soldering iron and follow some good YouTube tutorials.

Least my experience has gotten better than over a decade ago. My iron would constantly bump into components and break them.
  • Maximumbeans @ Maximumbeans:
Sounds good. I actually did soldering but like 16 years ago for school so uuuuh probably rusty haha
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Maximumbeans, Same here. I did soldering at school from a teacher who I honestly liked since he had plenty of good electronics experience.

It was like all clear and fancy. Tbf I'm not too experienced with chess, but would like to learn someday.
