What are you on about, following bad example? Square Enix have been slowly porting games to steam since like 2013 because its easy money. Modern consoles and PC's are next to the same architecture so if you're making something for one why not also the other. And if everywhere you go things smell crappy, maybe you should check your shoes. Not many companies are going to rework a game just to put it on 1 weak console.

I'm still a little miffed about the thing, it just looks half-assed, ported from mobile graphics and completely fails to capture the wonderful hand drawn look of the original: that intro was gorgeous at the time. And yes hopefully we can turn the voice acting off.

However, much as I love the original, it's never going to get a massive budget like the FFVII remake as it's nowhere near as popular, so perhaps we should just be grateful we're getting it at all...

As for the Sony console exclusivity, well they probably paid for it: the link initially leaked from one of Sony's official sites... it's probably just a timed exclusive, depending how well it sells there may well be a Switch version later.

I'm not super pissed about the graphics, it definitely could look better, but it looks nice.
I'll be hoping for a Switch release some time soon as well.

Just because you're annoyed the console you wanted this to be on is not getting it doesn't mean others shouldn't get it :P .
Also remember that the Vita is very much alive in Japan, and that the game will be releasing there too, so yeah... also also SE has published several multiplat titles on the PS4/Vita(/PS3) combination before so they surely have teams who are used to porting stuff on Vita,
so it's not much of an effort for them.
I do agree with the fact that they are simply being lazy not porting it on Switch though, and more ports are always better in my opinion, so long as the porting is done correctly.

Seems like this is a real minimum effort update. The graphics are nice enough but nothing else is different, sprite flipping, characters running in place and all. It's very dated. It's not a good look for a game touted for PS4.

Oh no, he dodged. Shit, I better keep walking into this wall.

I never played the original but this looks cool. Did this game get a port to the GBA back in 2002 or something?

Wait this is coming to the PS4?? That's cool!

The vita is dead. Can't say it's doing well, not even in Japan. Not upset that it's not on the console I want it to be.. I'll be getting it on PC. It's a bad move, marketing and sales wise to put it on a console that had a niche market to begin with.

The few stragglers and import sales for mods and the like aren't anything to praise in my honest opinion.

No, that was a different game. It got a slightly updated port for smartphones with more detailed tiles and crippled AI.

I think they chose to keep the same feeling and same issues.
I never had any issues myself with all the game mechanics or graphics, but some users seems to not be happy how the original was or worked. I never had issues with magic, battle system (time charge) or anything else. everything was well thought and easy to play to me.

The graphics are identical, NPC, sprites and tiles placement, etc.
it helps keeping the Snes nostalgic feeling, but at the same time why not play Snes version instead if it's a clone? people who never played it can play this version and will find the exact same game we played 20 years ago.
they said the music was redone, but I didn't heard differently. Maybe it's now a real "music" and not sampled instruments played in realtime which cutoff when too much sound effect is played at the same time ;)
it had its charm, the Snes had limited channels for sounds, and some music instrument were mute to hear sound effects (sword slash, monster cry, etc.)

the only thing annoying me is the minimap with the SNES graphics.
I just find it strange to have a mini map on the corner, why would people need a minimap ? people get lost on Snes version ? "you are here ... wait, you know where you are because the map is the same thing than what you are looking on screen"
the minimap is not far enough to be interesting.

it explains why it's so similar graphically, and not a real remake done differently. the world is just transposed with 3D graphics. when you move you see the position on the Snes map is moving too. both matches, so I guess there won't be different maps.

like on Snes, it was a local co-op.
network coop was possible with emulators, but that's not the game's intention.

Maybe if it was for the 3DS and had better graphics and AI I'd consider buying.

to anyone who says shit to square: you should be directing your fuck yous to sony cause they likely paid square for exclusivity, there is no way in hell this couldn't run on switch and it would be a perfect fit with it's drop in drop out any time multiplayer, hell this could probably run on 3ds with the way it looks
