While the SaGa 2 (Final Fantasy Legends 2) DS remake has yet to be localized, Square Enix is now remaking the third original SaGa game on DS. Originally known as SaGa 3: Jikuu no Hasha, it is receiving a name change for the remake- SaGa 3 Jikuu no Hasha: Shadow or Light. The US originally got the first 3 SaGa games on Gameboy as Final Fantasy Legend, though the series has nothing to do with Final Fantasy. It was renamed apparently to cash in on the popularity of the Final Fantasy series. They have since released future SaGa games under their correct names, but the series has had a somewhat shaky history in the US. The SNES series (Romancing SaGa 1, 2, and 3) wasn't released in the US at all. Similar to the SaGa 2 remake, the visuals will be receiving a complete overhaul for the new hardware.

First scans revealed via Famitsu (not the best quality)-
Warning! Spoiler inside.

- Final Fantasy Legend III remake
- originally appeared on Game Boy as SaGa 3: Jikuu no Hasha
- released in the states as Final Fantasy Legends III
- official remake title is SaGa 3 Jikuu no Hasha: Shadow or Light
- updated visuals
- new gameplay elements

It's a shame though that SaGa 2 DS was never released in the US. There's never been any sort of indication that we'd get it either. There's little chance of SaGa III DS coming either if the first one is any indication. Maybe fan translations will help us here.

Actually the first Romancing SaGa was released in the US, only not the SNES version, but the PS2 remake.

Ooh, I liked FF Legend 3/SaGa 3. At least I'll get to hear a remix of the Talon theme even if it never comes out here.

Nice to see the first remake was successful enough to so other SaGa from the series smile.gif
English would be great though, I never played the GB games.

Maybe we could see a Romancing SaGa remake sometime (DS or 3DS ?)

Oh yeah, the SaGa 3 soundtrack was done by Ryuji Sasai who also did all of the rock'n tracks for FF Mystic Quest (mediocre game but absolutely fantastic soundtrack).

Probably no chance of seeing this one in English closedeyes.gif

Unless there is a fan translation patch, of course. Is there a translation project for the second one now that it is out in Japan?

Our current goal is to have SaGa 2 fully playable in English by New Years. I will say that SaGa 3 is a potential new project for us.
