Has anyone developed a GUI WAD Manager?

If not, I would really like to see something that Sorts Alphabetically, has some sort of Preview Image, show WAD Title, and displays Block Size. I'm thinking it could pull this from either the WAD file itself, or an XML file!

Also, during installation, it would REALLY be nice to have a progress bar!

Below, I have provided a quick sketch of my vision...

*** MAIN WAD MANAGER SCREEN ***

*** WAD MANAGER INSTALLATION SCREEN ***

Someone please help my dream become a reality!

Anyone else like this idea??

nice idea, maybe the image isn't needed, somehow implement WadID into wad manager, that would be cool, the progress bar would be cool aswell, don't know how the image could work, but the wad ID into wad manager could happen....

Ah this would be awesome.

Another Idea:

A prog where you can browse through the installed channels and delete then without the Wad.

No can already do that with Data Management, it's your own fault removing the wads etc otherwise Format time to remove tickets tongue.gif

All you gots to do is modify the Data Management so that it removes the tickets/title IDs as well when deleting.

You cant get these infos from the wad.
But you are right, an xml file would be the solution.

I don't know if you can read a banner from a WAD through homebrew. I think displaying the name is enough.

And ~8.12 blocks is 1 MB, so you could probably do the block size.

No you can't, unless it was some sort of manager that unpacked it on the fly, and shows the banner.bin image? and doesn't touch any of the files inside app etcetc
be hard for imaging, but IDing should be ok, with Wad ID or similar..

What you need is to have WadManager display the amount of blocks left on your Wii and how many blocks each wad is.

Well... I have a couple of ideas...
  1. If the GUI WAD Manager would be Internet accessible, using the WadID, you could pull a corresponding image from a server somewhere.
  2. If the GUI WAD Manager would parse the directory for .WAD files, couldn't it also parse for a corresponding .JPG, which has been named the same?

    Example "wad" directory::

    Lost_Winds.jpg
    Lost_Winds.wad
    Wild_West_Guns.jpg
    Wild_West_Guns.wad
    World_Of_Goo.jpg
    World_Of_Goo.wad

Do you think this would work?

=)

thats really the only thing missing from wad manager. thumbnails and a progress bar arent really needed, in my opinion. smile.gif

Yeah, the thumbnails aren't needed, but look nice. The progress bar, however, I would really like to see. Even the HBC has progress bars! And, yes... the Block Size check is a "must have". No more waiting 5 minutes, just to have the installation fail!

=)

I too have wondered why this hasn't been done yet... even if its mostly just a cosmetic improvement. I also don't know why the WAD Manager isn't simply integrated into the homebrew channel. I'm hoping something like this will eventually be done.

I think you know why! NEVER HAPPEN!!! Do Team Twiizers support Piracy...erm NO, Would they still implement it in a HBC, No chance in hell as Vince McMahon would say, will we end up with Source for the HBC, doubt it*
