    Your seed is generated from your console hardware unique identifier. Each console will only generate one single and only seed. And Nintendo knows the hardware ID of every units they've put out into the market so they can do a cross check.

    So if you are banned you shouldn't be able to log on Miiverse? I can't check my 3DS now, but I played Moon online using the CIA on Gateway Emunand. I can access Miiverse just fine (through my browser).

    So this has nothing to do with having a gateway to begin with as many gateway users are just using CIAs as well. Ironically I only use .3DS for offline titles since CIA were supposed to be "safe".
