    as far as I remember, you press X to install on HDD, you press A to install on nand. so make sure you press A on the title name and that you have enough space.

    FAT32 is always recommend since it is supported by all apps, NTFS on the other hand is not supported by all apps.

    yup, you need a y-cable, and that's probably why your HDD is not detected, you will hear a click from the HDD once you try to launch USB Loader GX or other apps that read from HDD, this means that the HDD lacks power. So use a y-cable.
