Translation Ni no Kuni Translation [ENG]

RetroGameFan has links to his personal hack/translation collection in the first post of his thread under the 'MODS/Translation Patched Games' spoiler. That collection has his version of the patch which boots perfectly under 7.06.

I played around today with Genesis Plus GX and mGBA and couldn't reproduce this issue with 30 January nightlies on my end. I didn't test Snes9x, but I doubt that it will appear there. I did delete the cfg files fairly recently though.

Just tested the latest nightlies - main menu indeed displays the proper time and a date. I played Picture Puzzle for Neo Geo Pocket Color, and it successfully recognized the date in game as January 30! @QuarkTheAwesome is the most awesome.

PC Engine core has broken CHD support at the moment. Games load properly, but all of the CD audio is corrupted - emulator either outputs no music or destroys your eardrums with horrible noise. An issue regarding this has been open on GitHub for a month now. On the other hand, CHD support for...

Wait, they don't? I launch PCE CD games from the playlist just fine without any issues. I just tested some games this minute! I did however go though the hassle of creating playlist files for CD-based systems manually, without playlist buddy.

I just tested Plok on Snes9x on Wii U and successfully got an achievement. I guess I was wrong and achievements do work on Snes9x.

Hehe, I expected that some would disregard achievements completely. I agree that's not a feature for everyone. When it comes to accuracy, Genesis and Master System, PC Engine, GB(C) and GBA are accurately covered with achievement support by Genesis Plus GX, Beetle PCE-Fast, Gambatte and mGBA...

So apparently there is a small specific reason for using Snes9x 2010 over modern Snes9x on Wii U. RetroArch has a built in support for Retro Achievements - a fan made service which uses emulation to create achievement system for retro video games. I discovered it last week and so far I'm...

Too bad that the FULL emulation of Super Game Boy features like extra sound channels in Kirby's Dream Land 2 is currently only possible with Higan, which would probably make Wii U explode into a fireball upon launch.

Super Mario World romhacks. Back in the day a lot of hacks were made with old inaccurate emulators like ZSnes in mind. Modern emulators ironically struggle to play them "accurately."

It's absolutely possible. You can have separate playlists "Sega - Mega Drive - Genesis.lpl" and "Sega - Master System - Mark III.lpl" and have them both point toward genesis_plus_gx_libretro.rpx. Retroarch will create icons in the XMB for both of them automatically.

Gambatte core has GBC palettes built in, you can activate them in core options menu. Unfortunately, this core has no Super Game Boy features, so SGB borders don't work.

That's normal. Games which had hard drives or optical discs in addition to ROMs themselves are stored that way. Zip archive contains ROM data, CHD contains a replica of HDD/CD/LD data.

I'm no MAME expert, but I think that using 2003 roms on 2009 core is a bad idea. MAME roms change frequently, sometimes roms end up being completely different files. I think that MAME is capable to automatically reject incorrect roms. Only roms unchanged in six years would work. Also, 2009 core...

I'm pretty sure that both CUE/ISO/WAV games I tested were North American and they booted US BIOS (and it has a unique music, I'm sure it's US BIOS). Nevertheless, I already replaced them with CUE/BIN versions.

I tested some more CHDs and here's what I noticed: CUE/BIN games for Sega CD in CHD work great, regardless if original image was in multiple BINs (Redump.org verified images) or in single BIN (Darkwater images). Games for Sega CD in CUE/ISO/WAV format combination (data track presented as ISO...

Recenly Genesis Plus GX recieved .CHD support for compact discs. You can use chdman.exe from the official MAME distribution to compress Sega CD images and launch compressed files directly from RetroArch. I tested Sonic CD (the official testing game of this thread) - works great on Wii U. Takes...

Sega Genesis' graphical output was closer to 3:2 ratio (like GBA which is a perfect 3:2), while SNES' one was almost square (8:7). While both were meant to be displayed on 4:3 display, Genesis indeed takes less hit when stretched. While I'm in the purist camp and prefer the correct ratios, I...
