Yeah that's fine, just ask away and I might answer if I remember lol

That texture is very fine, it's just a normal texture, thus it has those blue/red colors. Anyway, as a last resort you can try importing without any of the non-diffuse textures (i.e. only keep "Diffuse" checked from the "Import Xyz" settings), that should save some GPU memory and prevent it from...

Hacking Ray's Mario Kart 8 Course Modding Tutorials

Mobile or Intel GPUs can have issues with Blender either displaying the texture data or (if TexConv does weird things which it typically does for a Nintendo tool) converting the data. Is the DDS looking bad in Paint too?

Yeah but that are just warnings output by my add-on, nothing bad; an exception always comes with a stacktrace (lots of gibberish). I know the TexHackU repository, the file which is in there (for whatever reasons) should be fine IMHO. What GPU are you using? Can you open the converted DDS files...

It definitely shouldn't be that bad and look almost correct. Maybe you're using a weird TexConv utility or something in your Blender output shows an exception.

Then there's an exception somewhere later, not a warning. You should send the whole output and a screenshot after following the steps, as in the first screenshot, you didn't follow them.

Have you followed the steps I linked to?

That's not a problem, that just says the addon doesn't understand or had to reinterprete some textures to make them show up "correctly" in Blender. Note that add-on is quite old and did some mappings wrong.

Apparently you didn't set up TexConv. Please follow the installation instructions for io_scene_bfres on its wiki https://github.com/Syroot/io_scene_bfres/wiki/Installation and then https://github.com/Syroot/io_scene_mk8muunt/wiki/Installation

I don't know where you can get it. There are videos on YT, you should ask the authors of those.

Eh it's clear those Editors are _not_ the NoLakitu tool. Sorry but I'm really not giving support on that old shiddy tool. You either get it to run or not. And again, I really recommend looking up the memory hack, it doesn't make tracks unfinishable and AI lobotimized.

Note that I don't give support on those tools. You download the code, compile the NoLakitu project, and pass a course_muunt.byaml to it. There are no compiled releases at this time. There's a better memory hack tho if you wanna get rid of Lakitu.

Hacking Mario Kart 8 Halloween and Christmas Course Packs

*bump* By request, I now uploaded all the music, for the Halloween Pack at least. You can find the links in the entry post. Put the BFSTM files in the ZIP file into content/audio/stream. As said, the music is much louder than the original MK8 songs. This was done on purpose so it can be clearly...

Gaming Mario Kart 8 - Comparison Video: Switch Vs. Wii U

No firehopping, double items? Now it just needs overpowered bikes to become a crappy unbalanced and unspectacular "fun racer" game like Mario Kart Wii again.

I haven't been gaming for such a long time. Been mostly busy with sleep, hardware tinkering and checking GBAtemp frequently.

Hope you've had a good morning.

It's going alright thanks :) I know what you mean with gaming time. It's precious where I can get it these days.

@Maximumbeans, Indeed. I've been working on getting this Infecutus chip to work on my PS2. But after soldering, I realised that a plastic piece was missing from the power ribbon cable to the power and eject buttons.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
Now I could go with soldering the contacts from the cable to the connector on the mobo, but doesn't sound like a good permanent solution.
  • Maximumbeans @ Maximumbeans:
Man, that's beyond my brain  I'm no good with hardware for now. I'd like to get into hardmods in future though
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Maximumbeans, Maybe start practice soldering. Get a cheap-ass soldering iron and follow some good YouTube tutorials.

Least my experience has gotten better than over a decade ago. My iron would constantly bump into components and break them.

Sounds good. I actually did soldering but like 16 years ago for school so uuuuh probably rusty haha
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Maximumbeans, Same here. I did soldering at school from a teacher who I honestly liked since he had plenty of good electronics experience.
