Tutorial An EASY(but a bit more risky) way to update Switch Firmware WITHOUT burning any fuses

Just wanted to update people who still want to attempt this: It still works with the latest switch update.

Tutorial An EASY(but a bit more risky) way to update Switch Firmware WITHOUT burning any fuses

This method still works with 7.0.0 and 7.0.1 if anyone was curious. Remember to have hekate as the custom bootloader and don't launch stock normally... I'm using the contents of kosmos' SD package (bootloader + Sept + atmosphere) to launch stock by using atmosphere's fusee. Still only have my...

Hacking Question Has anyone tried going and playing online after a NAND restore?

That I haven't done yet but I think both eShop and online play are tied together no?

Hacking Question Has anyone tried going and playing online after a NAND restore?

I've gone to the eShop after restoring my nand and have not been banned.

Tutorial An EASY(but a bit more risky) way to update Switch Firmware WITHOUT burning any fuses

You would need to find the firmware file to be able to update with choidujour. It certainly is better to use that if youve installed NSPs or used retroarch for example since it would be suicide to connect to Nintendo's network but for someone who just wants keep their fuses intact this is the...

Tutorial An EASY(but a bit more risky) way to update Switch Firmware WITHOUT burning any fuses

Not trying to Necro the thread but I just wanted to point out that this way still works! Restored back to 2.0, followed my previous steps and then updated to 6.2 using the switch's regular update and didn't burn a fuse. I want to add that Im also using hekate as my bootloader and have...

Hacking [No longer maintained] RajNX - starter pack for Nintendo Switch

Are there plans for XCI reading? Seems like that's one thing most CFW are missing now (except for SX apparently). Having to use devmenu when you can simply use your own xci from your back up feels more efficient (and "safer" from the looks of it). Probably not an easy thing to implement.

Tutorial An EASY(but a bit more risky) way to update Switch Firmware WITHOUT burning any fuses

As far as I know when you do "launch firmware" it goes into OFW. No idea if that will burn your fuses or not. All I know is that as long as you boot into hekate you won't burn your fuses (according to someone on this thread).

Tutorial An EASY(but a bit more risky) way to update Switch Firmware WITHOUT burning any fuses

The process is less risky because you don't meddle with the inside of your switch. You update it "naturally" thru Nintendo. Other than that the whole having to boot into RCM is the same. You can install AutoRCM and leave your Switch in sleep mode if you want to be really careful. My only...

Tutorial An EASY(but a bit more risky) way to update Switch Firmware WITHOUT burning any fuses

Con: can only update to the latest FW. Pro: less headache inducing method and with less chances of you screwing up if you've made sure that you're able to enter RCM mode after the update has finished (as in, you've tested that your jig works properly so that when you hold Vol+ right before the...

Tutorial An EASY(but a bit more risky) way to update Switch Firmware WITHOUT burning any fuses

You can use exFAT with hekate. I didn't have the update either but it still copied my backup just fine. IN OFW if you don't have the exFAT (and are connected to the internet) it will ask to update (which is what I did when I was ready to go).

Tutorial An EASY(but a bit more risky) way to update Switch Firmware WITHOUT burning any fuses

Yeah dunno what went wrong with you =\ I'll try to be as detailed as possible if anyone is also interested: Disclaimer: I basically followed what was said in the guide in the first page. 1- Placed an exFAT formated Samsung 64gb SD card in my switch and tested my jig like 5 times by...

Hacking Question How many burnt efuses do you have?

Trust me, I'm shaking right now because I don't know what this may bring about in the future. For now I have only launched ReiNX (to not burn my fuses) and installed Hekate's AutoRCM. Haven't used Homebrew or anything out of the ordinary. Went online to update Zelda and finally get my hands on...

Hacking Question How many burnt efuses do you have?

And I'm on 5.1 thanks to the easy no burn fuse guide (using Nintendo's own update system. Not having to fiddle around with the partitions or anything like that).

Tutorial An EASY(but a bit more risky) way to update Switch Firmware WITHOUT burning any fuses

@quantumboy btw op (this is not a critic or me trying to be a smartass or anything) I would change the title of the thread to something more eye catching. I think a lot of people are discouraged from attempting this even though it's easier and "more user-friendly" than the other guide because of...

Tutorial An EASY(but a bit more risky) way to update Switch Firmware WITHOUT burning any fuses

That means you're at 1.0.0. if it says 2 fuses you're at 2.0 (like me).

Tutorial An EASY(but a bit more risky) way to update Switch Firmware WITHOUT burning any fuses

I would like to comment that i have successfully updated my console to 5.1 and haven't burnt a fuse yet using this guide (even got the sdx update too!) Imo it's 20000000 times easier than the other one and error free (except for human error).

Tutorial An EASY(but a bit more risky) way to update Switch Firmware WITHOUT burning any fuses

From what I read it's not mandatory. You just need to always be on RCM mode and not on regular mode.

Tutorial An EASY(but a bit more risky) way to update Switch Firmware WITHOUT burning any fuses

Maybe I read wrong. I could have sworn I read somewhere that it would ask you to update and even allow you to. My bad.

Tutorial An EASY(but a bit more risky) way to update Switch Firmware WITHOUT burning any fuses

Hmm that's more of a question for whichever CFW you use. This is mostly for using OFW to update via online. If ReiNX allows you to update via NSP then yeah. I know you could using XCI (in SX CFW).
