Homebrew Retroarch just got a lot better!

Is it just me or is rewind functionality broken in GPSP on 1.9.10? Last time I checked it was working well on pre 1.9.9 build. In Gambatte it is still ok though

Homebrew Retroarch just got a lot better!

Does the PCSX core still work ok? I haven't been following this lately and heard that it was broken somehow...

    Homebrew Unofficial 3DS RetroArch builds

I find fast-forward working ok enough for quite a few cores that I regularly use (bar psx). Rewind is generally more taxing but works well enough for gpsp, which is the principal reason why I’d abandoned VC and opted for that method when it comes to GBA. Regarding save/load states, I personally...

    Homebrew help with gpsp retroarch

If you want to enhance the graphics maybe try applying a filter? A lot of games still run well on gpsp with video filter, though there’s the risk of screen tearing.

    Homebrew help with gpsp retroarch

I got the same error in Picodrive trying to run a Mega CD game due to missing bios. Maybe that’s the reason

Homebrew TWPatcher - DS(i) mode screen filters and patches

Just feel like popping in and say the stable build’s working great! I’ve finally figured out the way to fully manipulate the different scalings for different kinds of games (widescreen-compatible or 4:3, 2D or 3D) by altering the combination of the two .cxi files put in TwilightMenu’s “Twlbg”...

    Homebrew Unofficial 3DS RetroArch builds

I must have downloaded them on November 26th, hence my current confusion. My guess is there must have been something happening with the server between then and now.

    Homebrew Unofficial 3DS RetroArch builds

By "recent nightly builds" did you mean the ones from November 18th? Last time I checked the buildbot had stopped updating nightly builds on that date. UPDATED: I must have missed something since all the nightly builds I'm currently having are from November 26th.

    Homebrew Unofficial 3DS RetroArch builds

My my my I think you’ve done it @justinweiss! I think you’ve cracked the trouble transparency has been giving us all these time. In some of the games I tested I could see a ~15-20 raise in frame rate and with that a lift into full speed even when transparency and blending effects were present...

    Homebrew Unofficial 3DS RetroArch builds

I used to call that previous .cia build “the stable threaded version.” Unfortunately, those crashes that happen when changing roms have persisted through all of the interim .3dsx builds, so I guess they are hardly a surprise. Big thanks to @Dartz150 for the pointer about Forced Interlacing...

    Homebrew Unofficial 3DS RetroArch builds

Dude it is absolutely beautiful to see you thinking out loud like this even though I don’t really understand a word of the technical stuff you were talking about. Since I’m an easygoing person I find that the core is already too good as is, and if it turns out that no further substantial...

    Homebrew Unofficial 3DS RetroArch builds

I think MarioKartFan's observation is absolutely spot-on here. Those out-of-cutscene slowdowns in MGS never really make performance look janky, just slow (but still somehow smooth, like "running through syrup" as MarioKartFan once put it), whereas these special effects slowdowns both really make...

    Homebrew Unofficial 3DS RetroArch builds

Upping the clockspeed to 60 will make the Ocelot fight much more smoother compared to setting it at 55-56. Just beat him again with no noticeable slowdown while fighting. Cutscenes will take a slight hit though (but nothing too major I think). I agree that continually having to push the...

    Homebrew Unofficial 3DS RetroArch builds

Yet another great revelation, I was genuinely surprised by the differerence/improvement this made. The few extra fps's can be I think even more than just a few in some games. With this new setting both MGS and Soul Reaver (heaviest games in my test list) are etching ever closer to playable for...

Homebrew [DS(i)/3DS] TWiLight Menu++ - GUI for DS(i) games, and DS(i) Menu replacement

It goes like this: after I booted a widescreen game, 4:3 games will forever be stretched to widescreen regardless of whether the actual setting (in the universal or per-game option) is 16:10 or 4:3.

Homebrew [DS(i)/3DS] TWiLight Menu++ - GUI for DS(i) games, and DS(i) Menu replacement

The new way TwlMenu++ handles widescreen (introduced in the first Labor Day release) in effect breaks widescreen for me :( in the pre-Labor Day version, after the patch is applied only widescreen-compatible games would go widescreen and incompatible games would remain 4:3, which is the way I...

ROM Hack [Release] PS1 Forwarder Creator

You really should try justinweiss' latest experimental build (https://gbatemp.net/threads/unofficial-3ds-retroarch-builds.462252/page-27#post-9197943). I tested MGS on this version yesterday and it ran waay too well for me to believe. Sure there's still some minor slowdowns and sound bugs (we...

This is weird. I don’t really notice any difference at all in MGS when dsp_thread is disabled.

    Homebrew Unofficial 3DS RetroArch builds

From my experience though the 2002 core has a lot of graphical bugs even though speed-wise it's definitely better than the other cores for sure. I'm banking on improvements for the 2005 core since it has less graphical bugs (to a tolerable level) and very good speed. 2005+'s graphical fidelity...

    Homebrew Unofficial 3DS RetroArch builds

I have the habit of closing the program either by pressing Home and X, or by pressing the power button directly. Both would hang, the former when the screen is displaying the "closing software..." box, and the latter after the screens have turned black. This only happen after I'd loaded up at...
