My old 3ds cannot update to 11.3 at all, it just bricks everytime I update...used old nand backups to restore the console but why this is happening is beyond me.

Only thing I believe is making the console brick is the edited secureinfo_A file with the serial number changed to bypass the eshop ban I don't know if this is the true culprit.

Edit:Just checked the secureinfo_A file after another nand restore its the original secureinfo_A file un-edited why is this happening =/

Solution
Dump the tickets from your bricked nand (I hope you made a backup), and inject them into the nand you're using now.

delete everything on your large sd card except for arm9loaderhax.bin and the nintendo 3ds folder.

What cfw are you using? Try using an sd card with just arm9loaderhax.bin on it from the newest luma and see if that will boot it.

Did you do this "Try using an sd card with just arm9loaderhax.bin on it from the newest luma and see if that will boot it."?

It may have to do with how you set it up. Let me know if it will boot when all you have on the sd card is the arm9loaderhax.bin.

I didn't want to update someone left the 3ds in sleep mode and it started the auto update BS, now I am stuck with a 9.2 nand backup, which I will have to update to play any game online....

Luma3DS doesn't require using any external app to go online with. Current CFWs have online version check built right in the CFW. So as long as your CFW is up to date, you can go online with pretty much any OFW number.
